The Country Club Hotel is new since I last visited this tennis facility above Lake of the Ozarks. It opened in June of 1998, adding 20 rooms and 66 suites to 16 to 18 2- and 3-bedroom condominiums available for rent. Everything is just a few steps from a 110,000-square-foot sports center, which has an indoor swimming pool, four indoor tennis courts, and a complete workout facility among other things. Outdoors, there are another dozen courts (three of which are clay), each individually fenced. Although the entire complex received rave reviews—mine among them—when it originally opened in 1986, it seemed subsequently to lose its way—or its audience—and the question now is, Has the new hotel reinfused it with its one-time vitality? If any of you have visited recently and have the answer to that question, I'd like to know and I'll post your take on its progress here.

Tennis Staff. USPTR pro Brett Robertson runs the programs here. He played his junior tennis in his native South Africa, tried his racquet at a few satellite events, and then came to the U.S. He began his teaching career at the the Van der Meer Center and later at Shipyard and then moved on to this Lake of the Ozarks facility in 1995.
Tennis Programs. In addition to the usual stroke-of-the-day clinics, round robins, and private lessons, the racquet club runs numerous clinics, mostly over weekends. There are after-school programs for juniors, most of whom live in the area, junior development clinics on selected weekends in summer, family packages, and day camps. There are also weekend clinics for adults—including some advanced clinics for 4.0+ players—at selected times during every month of the year (see their web site for dates and details). Game matching relies on the 100-150 members, most of whom live in the area and play regularly. Let me know your impressions if you've vacationed at the resort recently.
Courts & Fees. There are 12 hard and clay courts outdoors and another 4 hard courts indoors in the fitness center. Court fees: $6/hour on outdoor hard courts, $12/hour on the clay or indoor courts. A special guest pass good for the entire day is $15.
This is your opportunity to rate and review the resorts and camps you've visited. As material comes in I'll post it here, so you can read what others think.
So far, I haven't received any written feedback on Country Club Hotel & Spa. If you've taken a tennis vacation there, I'd like to hear your reactions.
The Country Club Hotel opened in June of 1998. It was built on what had been a tennis stadium carved out of the side of the hill. The new hotel, which has 86 rooms (66 of them suites), adjoins the 110,000-square-foot fitness club. In addition, there are a score or so of 2- and 3-bedroom condominiums available for rent.
