At 39 stories and 998 rooms, the Diplomat Beach Resort is an imposing presence on on Hallandale Beach near Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. With 209,000 square feet of meeting space, the hotel obviously caters to large convention groups, though if you add the beach, a 30,000-square-foot spa, a shopping and entertainment complex, and access to the tennis and golf at the nearby country club, there's a lot for vacationers as well.

Former college player Jay Broadbent heads up the program. He was recently joined by former touring pro Dean Goldfine, whose title is Master Pro, Together with a roster of three other pros, they lure players to the courts on a daily basis, with private lessons to be sure, but also a weekly roster of drill sessions (daily), Cardio tennis, round robins beginner clinics, evening clinics (followed by open play), as well as live ball drills and a men's night. Most crucial for hotel guests, however, is their conscientious game-matching that draws on a stable of local members. They also custom-design programs for convention groups, teams, or anyone else. There's also an after-school junior program and a summer junior program, both open to the children of guests.

Beach. A magnificent beach borders the towering Diplomat hotel.
Golf Courses. The country club has an 18-hole Joe Lee-designed golf course notable for having four par-5s, including one at 570 yards that ranks as one of the longest in South Florida.
Spa & Fitness Center. The hotel has a full service spa overlooking the ocean and a well-equipped fitness center accessible 24 hours a day.
And ... the amenities of the Diplomat include its spectacular bridged swimming pools (one running N-S the other two-floors above it running E-W and spilling into the pool below). The country club borders a 48-slip marina, in case you'd like to arrive by boat, and there is a puzzle-piece-shaped swimming pool and Jacuzzi at one end of the clubhouse.
The beachfront hotel operates a Diplomat Kids Club for children ages 5 to 12.
With 1,000 rooms and suites in a tower rising 39 stories, the Diplomat offers a variety of layouts and perspectives. Floor-to-ceiling windows in all of them make the most of those views, whether it's straight out at the ocean or west across the IntraCoastal Waterway.
There are more than half a dozen dining options at the Diplomat Beach Resort, ranging from a poolside grill to a sushi bar, spa cafe, and steakhouse. Over at the country club, The Links Grille serves breakfast, lunch, and Sunday brunch.
