Golf Courses: There is a training center, driving range, and putting at pitching green just steps from the entrance to the hotel. The nearest golf course is 2 km away in Ellmau with another 11 within an hour’s drive.
Spa: Built partly into the hillside, the spa at the Bio-Hotel seduces guests not so much for its treatments as its design and amenities. Lounge chairs in a sunroom at the uppermost level—a level shared by most of the treatment rooms—look out through floor-to-ceiling windows on that mountainscape of the Wilder Kaisers. To reach that aerie, you climb stairs cut into simulated stone the same gray color as the mountains. Water splashes down the rocky slope in full view of a large rimless hot tub the shape of a mountain pool. Lying there you can gaze at the Wilder Kaisers perfectly framed in the windows of that sunroom above or at an aquarium filled with neon-colored tropical fish and two marauding sharks. Behind the cascading water as if in a cave are a series of saunas—one in translucent stone and called the “Crystal Sauna”—and salt grotto, all of them clothing optional. Leave that area and you follow a set of stairs to an indoor pool, bordered by what seems to be an extension of that rock face and cascading water in the room above with windows on a large grassy inner courtyard of the hotel containing lounge chairs and a kids’ tree house. A tunnel from the indoor pool leads directly into a small outdoor pool, both filled with crystal-clear water. Finally, there is a separate lap pool in one corner of the courtyard. All of this is accessible to guests whether or not they book spa treatments.
Fitness Center: The hotel also has a Fitness Garden, a 5,400-square-foot (500m²) arena adjacent to the indoor courts. It has been furnished with TechnoGym cardio and exercise stations and a Kinesis circuit training system. Personal trainers are also available and many of the hotel activities now operate out of this new Fitness garden. It borders a wellness area for adults with a saltwater pool, a lap pool with integrated Omega timing devices, more relaxation areas, a large marble steam room, two more saunas, a waterfall grotto, and a swimming lake.
Summer: Hiking and Mountain Biking. Hiking trails begin almost at the doorstep of the hotel and head up—and if you choose, over—the Wilder Kaiser mountains. Some are easy. Those at higher elevation can be difficult, as you climb hand-over-hand up rocky paths or along very steep slopes where you’re smart to hang onto the cable attached to the rock on the upper side as a handhold. Scattered throughout are mountain huts providing refreshments and even overnight lodging. A map and suggested routes are available from the concierge desk and there are regular guided hikes during late spring, summer, and fall. Meanwhile, for bicyclists there are both paved bike lanes all along the valley floor and paved and gravel forest roads in the mountains themselves. Bikes can be rented right at the hotel and like hiking there are guided outings available in season.
Winter: Nordic and Alpine Skiing. There is the first of a series of lifts as close as Going, less than a mile away, and the Kitzbühel and its fabled Hahnenkamm downhill racecourse are only 15 minutes away by taxi.
Stanglwirt has Lipizzaner horses and a riding school, complete with a small outdoor equestrian ring.
Children's programs: At 9:30 each morning, kids as young as age 3 can meet at the “Kinderstube” in the hotel or the Children’s Farm behind or for a full day of activities, including lunch, hay games, pony rides, petting zoo, and more supervised by the hotel’s nannies until 5 p.m. (and evenings during holidays). Families, meanwhile, gather in a Children’s’ Water World, with a 400-foot-long waterslide, multiple shallow pools, bigscreen TV showing kids’ favorites, and napping and play areas.
Dining: Packages include breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is a vast buffet of cheeses (some Stanglwirt’s own), deli meats, fish like smoked salmon or mixed seafood, their own yogurt, fresh fruit from raspberries and blackberries to watermelon and pineapple, breads, and a made-to-order omelet bar. Dinner varies from night to night but is typically a sumptuous five-course affair with a different theme each evening: Italian one night, Tyrolean Mountains another, the chef’s creations a third. They usually begin with a buffet of salads, fruits, vegetables and cheeses before giving you a choice of entrées, one of which is always vegetarian. There is also a free afternoon snack of coffee, tea, and pastry, served in the library.

It is just the perfect location to play tennis Best camp ever! The staff is amazing, very friendly, funny and you learn a lot. This camp is great fun. You are always in the same group but you have each day a new PBI coach. New themes to work at.
The location is great. In summer the outdoor courts right infont of hugh mountains. Hotel is awesome. Delicious food, fantastic SPA and atmosphere to relax
An ideal vacation resort with many varied sports and pastimes. We were extremely well looked after by all the tennis coaches and also by the hotel in general. Our only disappointment was the construction works and general cleaning works in progress during our stay. However we look forward to visiting when these have been completed and the resort returns to its peaceful existence with the added facilities.
Beautiful surroundings and excellent tennis with very friendly and skilled coaches. Fabulous food and amenities…. I look forward to returning.
Been to this Austrian area several times. The hotel complex is great…plenty to do after tennis. Included breakfast buffet is massive. Scenery is spectacular…mountains, fields, streams. Plenty of clay courts outside and rubberized clay courts inside for when it rains.
A great week at stanglwirt. Tennis was amazing, fun atmosphere around the tennis courts. A great tennis team, who make playing tennis lots of fun, really enjoyed my lessons with Joe:-).
I have visited Stangwirth for more than six years during the month of June. The PBI professionals are managing a variety of tennis courses and it is exciting to participate to their activities while improving my tennis. I would highly recommend it both in terms of location and tennis sesssions.
The tennis acadamy at Stanglwirt is absolutely profossionel leaded. The Pros are gentle, motivated and perfect eduacated. After taking lessons there i was getting a better player. It is not only fun it is a perfect school for tennis. They made me to a better player with big motivation and fun on this great sport…simply the best!
What an unbelievable experience! My family and I had an amazing week of tennis, skiing, relaxing and eating! Eva and Andrea, the two tennis coaches, were of a supremely high standard and extremely nice individuals. What is extraordinary about them is that they teach the same way.Thank you, I shall be coming to Stanglwirt for all our tennis holidays!
Agatha Christie wrote a mystery set in Bertram’s Hotel, where everything was too good to be true, and the whole thing turned out to be a front for a crime syndicate. With the (as far as I know) exception of the crime syndicate, this is pretty much the same thing. Comfort, facilities, amenities, service, food, and tennis instruction are all superb.
Being rather prone to boredom,I generally sacrifice luxury of accommodation and spend little time where I am staying. Stanglwirt, although there is lovely walking, biking, and hiking all around (and skiing in winter, for those who don’t mind cold), is much more of its own little universe, and between meals, lessons, and spa time I mostly relaxed and digested. Boredom never came into the picture.
The only niggling criticism I would make is that the staff (apart from tennis instructors) are rather limited in English. This can lead to some difficulty in conveying a request if one is, like me, hopeless at German. However, all issues were resolved with cordial, good humor to my full satisfaction.
Tennis instruction was clear, quite professional, and of high quality, both in terms of information provided and in helpful instructional attitude. I had lessons with 3 pros, and each was excellent in somewhat different ways. Amazingly, though they made more teaching points per lesson than I am used to receiving, I never felt overwhelmed.
Tennisteacher: Is very attentive. He sees errors immediately and can adjust well. I learned a lot. Super, he has the ability to inspire the people. Thank you very much!
Very friendly teachers. PBI has a very good teaching konzept. Very nice “masters-championchips”.
Unforgettable moments in which we can summon up and just having a great time. In every tennis lesson i can progress my tennis by having a lot of fun. The vacations at the Bio-Hotel Stanglwirt are like a dream. Unbelievable, FANTASTIC.
High quality of tennis lessons, personal approach, good athmosphere, beautifull envirement, nice people!!
The most romantic setting in the world. A fabulous 5 star hotel with great everything. The best tennis with PBI pros who take care of you with great concern and great instruction. A definite place to put on your list. We will be going back again this year.
The Bio-Hotel Stanglwirt is a great place if you are looking for improving your tennis game and also take some time to relax. The tennis crew is highly skilled and guarantees excellent practice for every kind of player. It’s also a perfect spot for children. Besides tennis, there are tons of other things to do (e.g. hiking, bicycling, etc). I enjoyed my stay so much that I came back 8 times. Not just is the team really professional but also are the tennis courts beautiful located, right next to the “Wildem Kaiser” (a mountain).
After a great workout on the court, you can lay back in the stunning Spa area and recharge your batteries.
Nice and competent Tenniscoach crew Great infrastructure Good Tennis courts (sand) and all weather guaranteed Tennis
ideal mixture of joy and skill in teaching tennis ! ! ! …great landscape i f you get a chance for good weather and an exeptionally beautiful hotel with superfriendly staff .
Ich war sehr zufrieden mit meiner Trainerin und ihren Trainingsmethoden, ihrer Art und ihrer Person. Das Training war sehr erfolgreich und hat meine Fähigkeiten gefördert.
The most beautiful possible location to play tennis and the best, knowledgeable and friendliest coaching team you could find anywhere. Can’t recommend the PBI tennis facilities and team at Stanglwirt enough and the hotel is nothing if not different!!
Stanglwirt remains our favourite.
Stunning resort to learn to play tennis, whether you are a beginner or advanced player, they cater for all levels. Nothing is too much trouble and the coaches are first class. My husband and I who are different levels, return every year without fail and have done for 10years+.
Outstanding resort. Crazy good tennis courts. Tennis staff exceptionally well trained. Fantastic Rooms. Great views.
This is the most awesome resort I have every been too. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The tennis facility is fabulous. The clay courts outside are great. Well kept and maintained. Tennis staff well trained and ready to help get your game together, especially the director Adri Atkinson. I did not use the indoor courts because the weather was wonderful. I will recommend Bio-Hotel Stanglwirt to all my family and friends.
Fantasic location with great staff!
This place is breath taking!! The surroundings are magnificent, and the service is excellent! The PBI Pro’s are really good, and I learned a lot during the week I visited Stanglwirt.
The hotel is not quite as good as the area and the tennis centre. The latter is a must have – at least once a year.
Exceptional experience overall! Very nice hotel, nice people, friendly and good trainers, great food! Just perfect!!
we visited this resort 2011,2010, 2009 and earlier , ist an excellent tennisresort !
Is the best
One of the best Hotel and one of the nicest view from the courts to the mountains. Just good…..
simply gorgeus!

Beautifuk location. One of the finest hotel ever. Fantastic tennis facilities. A first class tennis teachers team who treat you as friend and make you feel you can always improve.
Great instruction, excellent teachers
I really had a great time!! Will come back for sure.
Stanglwirt is set at the base the beautiful Wilden Kaiser mountains. It’s the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. We were there to ski and take a few tennis lessons. Stanglwirts strengths are its location from several airports its rustic all wooden decor and the wonderful fitness facility. Weaknesses are that the spa and suana area are too small for the number of guest that the hotel can facilitate.
I visited this resort on vacation.
Very nice place (beautifully situated in the austrian alps) with really friendly and qualified staff (PBI-school and hotel). So me and my wife plan to spend a few days in this relaxing atmosphere at least once or twice a year.
Beeing at Biohotel Stanglwirt always feels like coming home and playing tennis with Adri and her team always means both – having fun and learn a lot! Try it yourself, you will never go anywhere else…
Best place to be in Europe – excellent tennis, excellent hotel with beautiful rooms, sumptuous food and an extremely friendly stuff. We just love it !
I simply had a great time on court with Adri Atkinson and her PBI Tennis team. Surrounded by the most beautiful Austrian countryside, improving my game was not only fun and joy but also highly professional and motivationg work by the teaching staff. The Stanglwirt Hotel offers facilities on the top level. An honest recommendation!
Been several times now always fun and always learn stuff. The group sessions were great and the head coach re balanced the groupings after the first day to ensure that we were in the right group which was much needed after day one.( many thanks for this !) fantastic setting & great to play on red clay
The best holidays i`ve ever had.It was so much fun.The trainers were professional and did a great job.I thought my tennis was good, but after the training with these super guys it was brilliant.I plan to go every year to them to get the best training i ve ever had. There were no weaknesses!
I was most fortunate to spend ten days playing tennis with the PBI gang at Stanglwirt in Going am Tirol Austria. Not only did the PBI staff erase my previous tennis resort experience but they worked dillegently to improve my tennis.
This was no easy job for them since my skills were learned hundreds of years ago on my high school tennis team. In fact, I played at Stanglwirt with the first non-wooden racket I ever selected! Lucky for me the pros, Andreas, Adri, Lukas and Manuel, were not swayed by my protestations of rusty skills but proceeded to run me around the court so I would face realistic tennis situations. Of course, when I was red-faced and out of breath, they had no shortage of drills and skills for me to perform while my heart rate recovered.
Besides the top-notch courts, facility, and the considerate support staff, I was surrounded by tennis expertise off the court. They not only strung an extra racquet I brought but noticed my primary racquet had a substandard grip needing replacement. I hardly believe what a deal I got on the stringing of my spare racquet and the grip on my primary weapon was improved gratis. It is comendable at this price point that the little maintenace chores are not charged to the guest as if they were the main course in the banquet.
Unfortunately, the week I chose was light on other single tennis players so I didn’t get to play with regular folks very often. But I used the ball machine and next time I will bring my teenager to be a realistic practice partner.
Definitely one of the best if not the best tennis resort in Europe. Team is very pleasant to hang out with, always available and really client oriented, technical level for both teaching and playing is truly outstanding and adequate even for more challenging players.
I had a great time at the Bio-Hotel Stanglwirt. I went there alone and I was a little afraid to become bored after a while. But the opposite happened. Beside my private lessons with Adri and Andrea I became several opportunities to play with other people (organized by my coaches). In result I spent about 4 hours a day on the tennis courts.
In my private lessons I could improve my tennis remarkably. Andrea showed me the concept of the 4 balls. Adri realised that I was to tense when hitting the ball and showed me how to get rid of this. Beside a lot of other things they thought me during these 9 days these were two elements which helped me to make a big step forward. Apart of this I appreciated very much the good and familiar atmosphere on and around the tennis courts. I had the impression to be looked at as a friend who is and always will be welcome.
The infrastructure with the lots of indoor tennis courts (I was there in winter) and the charming tennis cafe is amazing. I enjoyed my time very much and I will go back to the Stanglwirt’s next summer, especially in order to enjoy the outdoor tennis courts surrounded by the Austrian Alps. I haven’t actually found a weak point. Sorry about that.
it was great
2008 was my 12th consecutive year atPBI at Stanglwirt and have already booked for 2009. So what does that tell you about the camp and facilities? Superb!!
I am very happy to go every year to go to Stanglwirt. There are the best coaches an tennistrainer of the world. We learn a lot and have so much fun with them.
top resort with the greatest staff!
