Look out for occasional tennis clinics with Judy Murray which are usually promoted on the hotel's social media channels and sell out very quickly.
The hotel sits on 34 acres of private grounds and woodland, with its own lochan. Wellies and umbrellas are available to borrow if you fancy heading out for a walk, and reception can also provide advice on local running or cycling routes. The hotel's kitchen garden is open for guests to explore, and it's also a lovely place to sit and read a book.
Outdoor Garden Games: Usually set up on the front lawn of the hotel are garden games including croquet and lawn putting which are traditional British pastimes. Or why not try your hand at a game of boules? This traditional French lawn bowling game requires a steady hand, accurate aim – and a fair amount of luck. You’ll need to be similarly skilled for quoits, which involves throwing hoops over wooden pins to accumulate points.
If you prefer something a little more strategic, check out the giant lawn chessboard – the perfect opening gambit to a summer afternoon outdoors.
The front lawn also has a stretch tent which is used for outdoor events, and on warm days or evenings, drinks and light meals can be served outside.
Billiards: The hotel's gorgeous Billiards Room is an atmospheric and opulent space with vaulted wooden ceilings, dramatic decor and an enormous billiards table. Team up, order a few drinks and indulge in a few quick games before tucking into the 'pick n mix' sweet selection which can be found at the back of the room by those in the know! With everything you need to start playing right away in an incredible setting, this has ‘rainy day activity’ written all over it.
In-room spa treatments: The hotel has plans for a spa to be introduced to the grounds within the next year, but until then it's possible to book an in-room spa session. Whether you’re hoping to revive tired muscles after a long day exploring the countryside, indulge in a blissful Indian head massage, or refresh and restore with a pampering facial before dinner, let the relaxation come to you. Services include:
- Back, neck and shoulder massage 30 mins From £80
- Full body massage 60 mins From £95
- Express facial 30 mins From £80
- Full works facial 60 mins From £95
- Reflexology 60 mins From £95
- Indian head massage 30 mins From £80
Tailor-made packages can be selected from the treatment list above. Additional treatments are also available upon request.
Chapel: The hotel has its own small chapel within the main building - a small intimate space which can be used by guests for weddings, Christenings or other occasions.
The hotel has just 15 bedrooms within the hotel and a luxury one-bedroom Gate Lodge at the entrance to the estate for those that prefer a bit of privacy. The mix of luxurious rooms and suites are tranquil, restorative places that aspire to bring a little of the outside, in. Each room has been individually designed (the whole hotel was totally refurbished in 2023) to reflect the light and mood of the space, with its own carefully curated mix of artwork, delightful patterns, and colors inspired by nature.
The bathrooms are something to behold - enormous rooms in their own right, many with sweeping views over the estate as well as the obligatory statement tubs and fluffy towelling robes.
The common areas of the hotel are also tastefully decorated with plenty of spaces to sit and relax. The central staircase and piano area (which features a grand piano for guest use) is a particular area of note, with artworks by Damien Hirst and David Shrigley. In fact, the art throughout the hotel is worth a mention - much of it is from the Murray's own collection, but there are also pieces on loan by the Scottish Royal Academy. The hotel has its own art book which can guide you through the extensive art collection as you wander through the hotel.
BY TAXI: The property is a 10-minute taxi ride from the Dunblane train station. There are frequent interconnecting services on the East Coast and West coast main lines and services from London.
BY AIR: Edinburgh airport is just 40 miles away, with 40 carriers serving over 100 UK and international destinations. Private jet and helicopter facilities are also available there. Transfer to the hotel from Edinburgh Airport takes around 45 mins.
Glasgow airport is 45 miles away, and transfer to the hotel takes just under an hour.
