When the Four Season Resort Nevis opened in 1991, it guaranteed that it would attract the attention of tennis players by building a racquet sports complex with eight hard, red clay, and artificial grass courts and later supplemented those with four pickleball courts, all wrapped around the central plaza of the Sports Pavilion. Although the tennis still has to compete with the beach—a battle it will almost always lose between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.—and it also share center stage with a Robert Trent Jones, III golf course laid out on the slopes of the 3,232-foot dormant volcano of Nevis Peak directly behind. Nevertheless, this has emerged as one of the foremost tennis destinations in the Caribbean.
A tiny volcanic island, roughly 8 miles in diameter, Nevis lies just across a shallow channel called The Narrows from its sister island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean’s Lesser Antilles. The name derives from the Spanish “Nuestra Señora de los Nieves,” which means “Our Lady of the Snows,” presumably for the white clouds that often shroud the top the Nevis Peak. In the 18th century, its sugarcane plantations generated so much wealth for its then British inhabitants that it came to be known as the “Queen of the Caribees.” Old sugarcane mills still dot the landscape, and several of plantation great-houses have been converted to inns. Elsewhere, Georgian stone buildings survive in the capital city of Charlestown and in several of the island’s numerous churches, including St. Paul’s Anglican Church, which dates to 1830.
Ultimately, though, what I remember most from my visits to Nevis are the warm, genuinely friendly people. And one place to meet them is on the tennis court. Peter Burwash International has managed this tennis facility since the resort opened. Almost since the beginning, the PBI pros here have sought to involve the hotel’s management and staff in tennis, and to encourage local participation, with the quite practical goal of having a diverse stable of players to draw on when guests come looking for matches.
Tennis Staff: PBI pro Eric Thorel directs the programming. Originally from France, Eric has run racquet programs with Peter Burwash International for over 30 years at some of the top clubs and resorts worldwide. In his formative years, Eric played competitively and attended a High-Performance Coaching & Management internship at the IMG Academy in Florida. He is also a certified USPTA Elite professional, PTR L2, USTA Sport Science and Youth Development. He inherits a well-run program of private lessons, adult clinics, game matching, and a weekly social mixer that brings together locals and guests. There's also a "Never Touched a Racquet" clinic which introduces new comers to the basic skills of hitting a tennis and/or pickleball. During school holidays, the resort offers "Red-Orange-Green" junior clinics, and Eric is now training the St Kitts & Nevis U12-14-16 national juniors.
The racquets facility is also open to the residents, and a ball-machine is available, so there's no shortage of hitting and playing opportunities, especially during the high season.
Court Complex: Laid out singly or in pairs, the two hard courts—one with bleachers—two artificial grass courts, four red-clay courts, and four pickleball courts wrap around the two-story golf-and-tennis clubhouse in an area of the resort known as the “Sports Pavilion,” which also encompasses the spa and fitness center. Weathered wooden pavilions at the edge of the courts provide shade, benches, and a supply of chilled water, tropical fruit juice, towels, and scented chilled towels. Five of the courts have lights. In addition, the resort has four pickleball courts to take advantage of the growing interest in that racquet sport.
Off Court
Beach: Pinney’s Beach stretches for four miles along this western coast of Nevis. The section that borders the Four Seasons has a berm seeded with low grasses and plants to protect the resort from the sea. Four supremely comfortable beach houses, each with a flat-screen TV, room service, and lounge chairs, stand atop the berm and can be rented for the day. Behind them and to the east is an infinity pool and wading pool for families, the open-air Caribbean-American On The Dune, and the watersports center, which has Hobie cats, kayaks, seaboards, paddleboats, snorkel gear, stand-up paddleboards and more—non-motorized equipment is complimentary. There is another, quieter pool for adults only at the southern end of the property.
Golf Courses: Designed by Robert Trent Jones, III., this 18-hole course climbs up and down the lower slopes of the 3,232-foot dormant volcano of Nevis Peak. The 15th is among the most spectacular, requiring a 240-yard carry across a ravine to reach the fairway while green vervet monkeys provide commentary from the adjacent trees, though for stunning views, the 9th hole stands out, a fairway that spills down the mountain slope toward the Caribbean and St. Kitts beyond.
Spa & Fitness Center: For tennis players, the Sports Pavilioncould scarcely have a better location, just off the plaza that borders the courts. The Fitness Center contains an array cardio machines, each with its own TV screen, arrayed along a wall with windows on the tropical foliage and Nevis Peak outside. Behind those machines is a row of LifeFitness stations, supplemented by dumbbells and freeweights. The Spa has a dozen treatment rooms, six of them in tiny cottages with cedar-shake roofs, yellow clapboard siding, and white gingerbread trim. They flow through a courtyard filled with tropical gardens. Guests can use the time before or after treatments to relax in an air-conditioned lounge or sit outside on a covered patio paved with stones or around a plunge pool with views of Nevis Peak or around a second pool with a waterfall. Treatments range from a variety of traditional massages to body wraps, skin-care services, manicures, and pedicures. Room service delivers spa cuisine.
The resort also offers scuba diving lessons and boat dives, catamaran snorkel tours, deep-sea fishing excursions, guided kayak tours, and a Laser sailing school.
Children's programs: The “Kids for All Seasons” program accepts children ages 3 to 9 for a full-day of supervised recreation, creative and educational activities highlighted by a sea turtle education program that focuses on Nevis’s endangered sea turtles. For others, there is an air-conditioned games room with Foosbal, a pool table, various board and video games.
Dining: The signature restaurant is the new EsQuilina, which offers breakfast buffet in the morning and a vibrant Mediterranean-inspired menu in the evening. My favorite, however, is Mango in a former plantation beach club at the northern end of the property. Steps from the water and open to the breeze, it specializes in West Indian-inspired fare like crab and mango salad, Mango’s famous glazed ribs, locally caught whole fried snapper or a Caribbean roti, washed down with, say, a Mangojito made with the local Brinley mango rum. In addition, there is the On the Dune restaurant and bar near the beach and pool for light fare during the day and Kastawey, a beach bar located at the southern end of the property, serves up creative rum cocktails and light bites featuring locally sourced ingredients from land and sea.
As an alternative, you can catch a cab to dine at Montpelier Plantation or the Golden Rock Inn, or stroll up the beach to celebrity favorite Sunshine’s (don’t miss their Killer Bees, a rum drink), Chevy’s, or the Double Deuce.
Accommodations
The resort comprise both rooms and suites and luxury villas. The rooms and suites can be found in two-story, shingle-roofed clusters faced in weathered wood and white stucco with latticework trim. In general, they follow the curve of Pinney’s Beach behind an expanse of lawn, gardens, and the occasional palm tree. These are spacious, light-drenched accommodations have been decorated in chic Caribbean style. First floor rooms open out onto patios and thus have direct access to the beach; second-floor rooms afford more privacy and have balconies. All are equipped with a variety of creature comforts, including flat-screen televisions, coffee makers, complimentary WiFi, and oversize marble baths with soaking tubs and separate walk-in showers. And in a boon to tennis players, each cluster of rooms has a free guest laundry (there’s even a package of detergent)—something you rarely find at an upscale resort but one that also partly explains why Four Seasons Nevis is popular with families. The luxury villas range from one to seven bedrooms and feature large living areas, fully equipped kitchens, and expansive balconies and terraces along with private pools or plunge pools.
Getting there
Travel Instructions: The nearest airport is Vance W. Amory International Airport (NEV) at the north end of Nevis, which has service from Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands. The alternative is Robert Llewllyn Bradshaw International Airport (SKB) on the nearby island of St. Kitts, which has direct flights from Miami, Charlotte, Atlanta, New York, Newark, Toronto and London. The Four Seasons staff provide transport from the airport by private taxi and boat directly to the resort pier.
I just returned home from a fantastic trip to Nevis Four Seasons. My wife and I had the opportunity to play with David Wilson for 4 days. He is a great instructor that brings the perfect balance of fun, teaching skills, and motivation. We’ve stayed at many Four Seasons and he is by far our favorite pro that we’ve encountered.
CR
I went to the Four Seasons Resort in Nevis knowing there was tennis available, but not realizing what a nice facility was available. On top of that, the pro there, Dave Wilson was great to work with. I played on three separate days, signing up for the morning classes. On two of the days it was just me and Dave. He made some great observations on my backhand and I was hitting it much more consistently by the time I left there, and leaving me with some great tips that I have brought home and will be using. In addition Dave is a super nice guy and is fun to talk to and to hit with. The tennis was truly one of the highlights of the trip, on what is probably the most charming island I’ve ever been to. If you have a chance to utilize the facility and work with Dave you should take advantage, as you will have a great experience!

I just finished a week at the Four Seasons Nevis. I had not been there for 19 years but remembered having a great tennis experience at the time. I wondered if my experience would be the same on this trip. I have to say that it was even better this trip!! The quality of the Peter Burwash run tennis facilities has always been tops. One of the strongest points is being able to accommodate an advanced player. Not only was the pro (Dave Wilson) an excellent player, he was also a good coach and teacher. My wife and I do not feel the need to vacation anywhere else besides the Four Seasons Nevis. The tennis program is one of the major reasons why we feel this way.
JR
The Four Season Resort at Nevis is outstanding in all respects, and the layout of the resort is unparalleled. The rooms are steps from the pool and the beach in one direction, and steps from the courts and the golf course in the other. My 12 year-old daughter and I took a lesson from Dave Wilson on Monday, and the lesson was so good and he was so engaging that my daughter (a beginner) pushed for more lessons throughout the week. Dave is a very good teacher, great with both adults and children, and he makes the lessons fun. Of note, he tailored the drills in a way that my daughter and I could play together and still receive targeted instruction at the same time. My daughter has been to a few week-long tennis camps during the summer but she is relatively new to the game. Dave did everything a parent could ask for: he gave great lessons that improved her game, boosted her confidence, and made her laugh. I have nothing but good things to say about the resort, the tennis, and Dave. We enjoy traveling to different resorts but we are already planning a return trip to the Four Seasons at Nevis.

I am a junior in an east coast prep school and I primarily stayed at this resort for the tennis in order to prepare for the upcoming athletic season. I must say that I was not disappointed. My mother and I organized two hours a day private lessons and at first I was put with a pro that was new to the resort. I quickly realized that this PBI pro, namely Kevin Davis, was exactly what I needed an even more. It must be said that, in term of moving my feet, strategy, and how much he pushed me, Kevin was one of the best coaches I’ve had. I strongly recommend him as a coach if you get the chance. (email: kevin.davis@pbitennis.com)
BH
Kevin Davis was our impeccable teacher at Four Season Nevis. He was creative, engaging, perceptive, and highly attuned to the game of tennis as well as to each of us. He sought to develop my fullest potential as a tennis player which is unprecedented during all the years that I have taken tennis lessons. I can’t image another coach as excellent.

I just got back from my 8 day trip to the Four Seasons Resort Nevis with my family, this was a very beautiful resort and we all had a lot of fun. The highlight of the trip for me was taking private lessons from a Peter Burwash International (PBI) tennis pro by the name of Kevin Davis. Originally, I had planned on doing the tennis clinic so that I could play on the court and socialize with other guest at the resort but I opted on the first day to get a private lesson before the clinic to tune up my game. After the first lesson with Kevin I was amazed and appreciative of the instruction he gave me so I decided to continue with only private lessons from him the duration of my stay. Kevin exceeded my expectations everyday on the court with his teaching skills, enthusiastic personality, empathy and his wardrobe attire was very professional each day (wearing full white Adidas clothing from head to toe with a pair of white Stan Smith shoes). As my last day at the resort approached, I truly felt like a brand new and improved player! Thank you Kevin for the moment, energy and time. I will nurture your favorite phrase about the use of my non-hitting hand (left hand for me) as a shelf which is after you finish using your hitting hand “put the racket back on the shelf after each shot”. Thank you Kevin again and hope you see this review because it is a symbol of appreciation for what you have done for my game.

I was for one week in FS Nevis and I went every day to the clinic, Nacho Esteban help me a lot with my backhand and volley , the tennis court are in excellent conditions , looking forward to go next year again .

We’re just back from a great week of tennis and relaxation at the Four Seasons Resort Nevis. Great tennis faciilities in a spectacular island location. Near perfect weather and amazing food both at the On site restaurants Neve and Mango and at several great old sugar plantations Now operating as great restaurants. The island is probably one of the friendliest and easiest to get around. The resort was all around terrific but the highlight was absolutly the tennis. The team of pros were all really terrific and a pleasure to work with . The pro staff lead by Dave Wilson and included J. D. Shade , Nacho, Katie and Lucas were l great to work with and we both improved a lot over the course of the week. I had daily lessons with J.D and he was one of the best pros I have works with. He pushes hard and really gives clear direction and good concrete examples that resonate and help your game. My husband worked with Dave and also had a great week of lessons with a lot of improvement on a short period of time. We also both hit with Nacho who was also excellent. The PBI instruction with a heavy focus on proper form really gets results you can seecans feel! We are both playing noticeably better ! A great week of tennos and we would highly recemmomd this for an amazing Tennis vacation.

I took lessons with Nacho Esteban over New Years. He was a fantastic coach both on and off the court. Great facilities and a great coach!
MR
We stayed at FS Nevis this past week and I played tennis with a pro (Nacho Esteban) each morning. the courts (astro, clay and hard) were in great shape and well cared for, the service was superb and the whole experience was a pleasure.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Four Seasons Resort Nevis over Thanksgiving. My husband and I love to play tennis and were able to enjoy five beautiful days at the tennis courts. While we played, my son had daily lessons with Dave Wilson. The facilities are outstanding. Very clean, always with wet towels and water and gatorade available by each court. Dave taught my son so much in one week and he made the lessons fun. My son enjoyed his daily lessons so much that he requested a second hour of lessons with Dave multiple days while we were there. We were very sad to go!

I just returned from vacation at the Four Seasons in Nevis. The resort is beautiful, with the best service I’ve ever experienced (and that is saying something). The tennis facilities are superb. There are many courts and they are in good condition. There are hard courts, clay courts and they were just installing grass courts (I think 3 of them{Editor’s Note: these are artificial grass]) when I was there. Unfortunately they weren’t quite complete before my departure. My wife and I took some lessons (independently from each other) from Dave Wilson. On comparing notes- we both found that Dave had given us valuable tweaks that were not difficult to implement. I came away with 3 or 4 significant refinements which I know will have immediate benefits. I’m an advanced player, so I’m pretty happy with that. The resort offers tennis packages, which includes some lessons, clinics and unlimited court time. If you don’t purchase a tennis package, you must pay for court time- and it’s not cheap.

We have just spent a week at the most beautiful tennis resort. The Four seasons Nevis is an absolute perfect place for anyone wanting a tennis vacation in the most picture perfect setting. It was also an absolute pleasure getting to get to know and to play with the Four Seasons tennis director Dave Wilson. Dave runs a truly amazing program, which has a little something for everyone. I took part in various Clinics, private lessons, and social mixers and dave didn’t stop there, he also introduced us to local people whom we made great friends with and also arranged the court time for us as well. Dave went above and beyond anything i could ever hope for from a tennis pro and i can’t say thanks enough!!!! As a couple who values their tennis as much as we do, i wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nevis as the ultimate tennis vacation. We can’t get back soon enough!!!!

My wife and I decided to go to this resort based on the excellent reviews is has on this site. We were on our honeymoon and looking for a good tennis resort to enjoy as well. Boy were our expectations way over achieved! We spoke with Dave Wilson the week before coming to the island. We were lucky enough to pick a weekend where a local and guest tournament was being held at the resort (The Nevis Open). This event was recently brought back after a sabbatical and what an awesome event it was! Dave Wilson ran a great tourney even though some dropouts occurred at the last minute. We also participated in the weekly drill with Dave and got some great tips to help us with our game back home. Left this place feeling like we made some lifelong friends, including Dave. We will be back and will also be telling all of our Colorado Tennis community how awesome of a place this was for us. This was one of the best tennis vacations that we’ve experienced!

My wife, our 7 year old daughter and I had a wonderful week of tennis with Dave Wilson the pro at Four Seasons Nevis. Dave is a wonderful teacher and was patient enough to adapt both the amount of hours and timing of our lessons depending on our schedule. He was also very accommodating to our different skill levels. He is a super pro to work with both adults and kids. The tennis facilities are set in stunning surroundings of the resort, in sight of the summit of the dormant volcano…you must go for the restort and tennis combined. Thanks for looking after us Dave
MJ
We had an amazing 10 days with tennis coach Dave Wilson. Great facilities at the Four Seasons Nevis-lots of water and ice cold towels! Dave was great and he kindly split our coaching time between our very different standard of tennis family. His suggestions, sometimes tweaks, raised all of our games. We have to thank him for his patience with young and old! We all came away fitter and very keen to continue or games.
TD
What an amazing week of tennis my son and I had! We participated in the daily tennis clinics with Dave Wilson and enjoyed them immensely. Dave is an exceptional instructor, organizer, and leader; we all benefited from his expertise and positive attitude. It was a fabulous experience and we look forward to playing tennis there again next year.

The tennis program at the Four Seasons Nevis was the best that I’ve been to. The resort and accommodations where top of the line as you would expect at a Four Seasons. Tennis program is run by Peter Burwash International. This is the third resort that y wife and I have been to where they run the tennis program and every time has been great. However, the program at Nevis was the best we’ve experienced and it’s because of the Tennis Director, David Wilson. David went out of his way to make our experience the best we have ever had. I’m a 4.5 level player and my wife is a 4.0. David was able to find a competitive match for us as requested. We attended one of his clinics and his instruction was spot on. David always had a smile when we saw him and was always available when we needed him. My wife and I will be going back in the future.
DJ
Ten tennis courts at this resort, a great instructor who knows how to coach and knows the game. Spent 10 days here this past spring and the Island of Nevis is amazing. The resort is apparently about to undergo a renovation which should make this place the king of Caribbean tennis resorts. David the PBI coach was super friendly, loves tennis and most importantly made immediate corrections to my game. The weekly mixer and clinics throughout the week allowed me to mix it up. I wish my club back home would get together with a another club and come here. We stayed in an exceptional villa overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
GL
After 25 years we started to play tennis again in Nevis. We took lessons from David Wilson and he gave us really a good time. Lots of fun and great professional training. Nice courts with good service. We come back next month and will play an other time !

If you are looking to combine 5 Star resort living with world class tennis facilities and instruction the Four Seasons Nevis is for you. Tennis Director David Wilson welcomes all with a cordial, professional and engaging manner. Dave is a talented pro coach for any level player on your choice of clay or hard courts, and is hands on keeping them in great playing condition. Dave was extremely helpful in bringing my game up after a long layoff due to injuries. Thanks to him I can look forward to a great summer tennis season in Aspen. The pro shop is well stocked with quality merchandise, an ample and wide selection of demo racquets, ball machines and courteous staff. A serious plus for warm weather play is the array of cold beverages, iced roll clothes and towels found in the shelters between courts. Four Seasons Nevis tennis far exceeds expectations. Congratulations to all on a great program. I’ll be back.
KK
I came during the slower season and took tennis clinics all week. Even if I was the only person we did the clinic. David, the Pro, worked out some bad habits I had that was causing my elbow to hurt. I am leaving with better strokes and no elbow pain. It’s also nice to have the gym so close to the courts. I would warm up and stretch before the clinics. They serve cold Gatorade, have sweat towels, and a cooler with iced peppermint towels that feel so good. I played in the Tuesday social and we had a lot of fun. Always nice to meet people from all over. This was a great trip for my husband and I. He would scuba dive in the mornings while I played tennis and then we had the rest of the day to explore or just relax. The down side is that I was one of the only tennis players this mid May and so there wasn’t anyone to play with. But I did enjoy having my clinics alone. It was a good workout.
BC
My wife and a just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary by spending a week at this wonderful resort. We both love tennis and it was one of the reasons we picked this location. We attended the clinics and social and David (the Pro) did a great job working with different levels, providing usable tips and incorporating drills to practice the tips. As a bonus, he also made some excellent recommendations for lunch and dinner.
DR
Great drills and pointers. David Wilson is a top notch instructor as well as a personable guy who made us feel very relaxed. We participated in a number of drills and a local mixer that was a ball. I highly recommend the Four Seasons Nevis if you are looking for a stunning location with great tennis facilities.
SS
This is my families fifth time going to the resort because we love it so much. I am a unior tennis player and the most important thing on vacation to me is a good tennis program. The four seasons resort at Nevis definitely had what I call a good tennis program. I got a chance to play with both David and Nicola, two awesome pros who work there. David is a great coach and is so much fun to play with. He knows the game of tennis and was able to help me a lot with my game. He was not a pro who stood there and just fed me ball. Instead, he was engaged in my lesson and he hit with me for as long as I wanted to. I highly recommend David as he was a great pro and also had a great personality. The second pro who I got to work with for only a short period of time was Nicola. Nicola herself is a amazing player and had many tips for me which were helpful. She taught me a few things while having a lot of fun. I really hope that people go to this resort and get to experience the tennis with David and Nicola because everything about the experience was one hundred percent awesome.

We just spent a week at the Four Seasons Nevis – absolutely amazing tennis program (Peter Burwash International)! The whole family took lessons and everyone benefitted from the superb instruction offered by the tennis pros (ranging from beginner to advanced adult). The pros are truly exceptional tennis players (for example, one of the pros, Nicola, is a former WTA touring pro and current hitting partner with a WTA tour player). It was a total blast to hit with Nicola and to see just how strong touring pros are. Very humbling!

I have just returned from a marvelous tennis vacation at the Four Seasons Nevis Resort. At this time of the year (February-March) the weather is perfect for tennis- hot but the sea breeze keeps you cool while playing. The resort has many courts- 4 red clay (which were perfectly maintained) and 6 hard courts (also in wonderful condition). The support staff always made sure there was cold water, Gatorade and iced towels in the shelters adjacent to the courts. We did the unlimited tennis package- 3 clinics, private lessons and unlimited court time, including ball machine. We never had a problem booking a court. The staff set up the ball machine (one of the best machines we have ever used) whenever we wished. The pro-staff Nicola and Leon are fantastic- very personable and quick to analyze your technique and game. I spent most of my time with Nicola. She improved my mechanics greatly – my arm no longer hurts! She provided helpful insights into how to continue to improve as well as game strategy. She was very patient as I attempted- unsuccessfully- to mimic the technique she demonstrated. Ultimately repetition and practice paid off. Overall, my experience at the Four Seasons Nevis Resort and the Tennis program was superb and can’t wait to return!
EJ
The instructors at this resort are amazing. My game improved, and I met some great people at their mixers and clinics. This is the place for people that play tennis #bottomline
NM
This was our first time on the island. An avid tennis family, we were pleasantly surprised with the exceptional care Leon and his staff presented. They were readilly available and made scheduling lessons and group packages easy. Weekly privates and group clinics are always going on. I have a son who is a top junior player and he was pleased as well with Leon’s talent, demeanor and knowledge base. My son was able to steadily practice throughout the week and enjoy a much needed vacation. Leon’s lessons are personalized as he gears them to your wants and needs. He is always ready to play and his energy and love for the sport is contagious. The facility is very well maintained with complimentary water , towels and sports drinks at hand. Restrooms and changing area are clean. You will not be disappointed with your stay here at Nevis. They will arrange scheduling and pricing via email before your stay as well.

We had a fantastic holiday at the Four Seasons, Nevis, our first time on the island and will indeed be back! A stunning holiday destination, we felt extremely relaxed throughout and had such fun. I must mention in particular the tennis facilities were phenomenal, we are a keen family for tennis and were thrilled with what was to offer. I can safely say this is one of the best tennis resorts that we’ve been to (and we’ve been to a fair few!) The courts were in great condition (both the hard courts and the clay, was very impresssd with the wide selection you could choose from) The tennis pro Nicola was excellent and needs a huge mention, you should be very proud to have such a wonderful tennis pro on your team, a huge credit to you and your company. Nicola was friendly, kind, encouraging, a fantastic, strong player who was always able to adapt to whoever she was playing with in our family. We all learnt something new from Nicola and am very thankful that my children were able to have her as a teacher. She provided a high level of technical teaching with such enthusiasm. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening sessions where we mixed with others, was great fun, well run and a great way to learn more. Many thanks to the tennis pros, they are doing a fantastic job and will surely reccomend the tennis in particular in regards to the four seasons!
OH
It was my first time to the Caribbean and the Four Seasons. The hotel itself was exceptional with amazing staff who made sure nothing went wanting. Being quite active I was slightly concerned that I’d get a bit bored staying on an island but the hotel’s sports facilities proved me completely wrong! The golf course was in fantastic condition with outstanding views of Mount Nevis and the sea which ever way you looked. Keith the resident pro was always on hand with little tips and advice, making sure the stay wasn’t spoiled with a stressful day on the course. You were always guaranteed a round with plenty of buggies available with the option to hire top of the range clubs and even shoes. As standard with the sports offering for the hotel, the tennis courts held their own. A multiple choice of surfaces made sure that play was always possible and long into the night too with a few courts having floodlights. I actually had a lesson during my stay which paid dividends for the tennis mixer the hotel throws every week. A choice of two pros either Nicola or Leon, I opted for Nicola who transformed my game within a single hour! A great understanding of the game and ability to simplify her coaching and apply it to my level. At no point did she show any sign of frustration, making me feel relaxed and I thoroughly enjoyed the session. I never felt like I was ‘just another client’ and both Nicola and Leon were extremely welcoming off court too, which again, is normal for the hotel and the island in general.
HL
We had such a great time at the four seasons as a family and our tennis lessons were a definite highlight. The staff were friendly, patient and a real joy to be taught by. I especially appreciated the lessons my children had with one of the Tennis Pro’s called Nicola. She was encouraging, kind and really took the time to build their confidence and they all absolutely loved their time with her. We also took part in a clinic that she ran one day, and it was great fun, and we were given some really good tips to improve our game. I was also very impressed at the conditions of the courts, of which there were many to choose from. the option of different surfaces was great, and they were all highly maintained. I would definitely recommend this tennis club, and especially Nicola to anyone considering to come here.
BH
Both the resort and the tennis were fabulous. As to the resort: the food, maintenance, staff, rooms, beach, and weather (January) were excellent. The snorkeling was so-so but I have a friend who is a scuba diver and he likes it a lot, so maybe it was the site. I also don’t recommend biking – the roads were narrow and bumpy. The tennis was great – one of the best tennis resorts that we’ve been to (and we’ve been to a lot of them.) The courts were in great condition (both the hard courts and the clay.) The tennis pro that I hit with (Nicola) was excellent. There were mixers that were very well attended with a good mix of skill levels. There were enough courts that I never had difficulty getting a court when I wanted one. Even though I only hit with the pro there were enough players that it appeared that it would be easy to set up a match at any skill level.
DM
Travelled with my husband to the resort in early December. We had a fabulous week and the tennis was a big part of it. I loved the pro, Nicola, who had just arrived when we did. I did drills almost daily during our week, and received both great instruction and a great workout from Nicola during the drills. My husband and I both enjoyed the social tennis evening organized by Nicola and staff. I would highly recommend the resort AND the tennis, and truly hope to return in the future.
ML
I have been impressed by the Tennis program in Nevis during festive. Despite the rain, everything has been done perfectly, in a smooth, professional and very friendly way. Leon was great to organize the schedule and always available, even out the work hours. I mainly had lessons with Justin, who was patient, kind and, against all expectations, made me improve my game in a significant way! The rest of the team outside court/pro shop was always smiling and extremely friendly !
PJ
Having played tennis from a young age I have come across my share of tennis professionals but my coach in Nevis, Nicola, far exceeded all expectations. She managed to provide a high level of technical teaching, with energy and enthusiasm. Always identifying what I needed and how hard to push me. I will definitely be returning .
AR
Playing tennis at Four Seasons, Nevis was one of the highlights of the stay for me. All the pros were so helpful and friendly and they catered to all ability ranges. I have played quite a lot before but my wife hadn’t and loved it. We both had lessons with Nicola, who was very professional – enthusiastic, so knowledgeable and adept at identifying a weakness and bolstering it. The mixers we took part in were brilliant. The pro would watch and match players up based on ability so, in general, you get a well-balanced game. It’s a great way to meet some of the local members who like to come along to them too! I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys tennis.
MT
Specifically, tennis pro Katie Dellich went above and beyond to make our tennis experience exceptional. Her expertise and good humor were remarkable.
MR
Had a fantastic week of tennis at Four Seasons Nevis with Leon and his team. Scheduling and communication were easy and professional and quality of tennis and instruction was excellent!! Would highly recommend and look forward to returning!!

We absolutely loved our time at the Four Seasons in Nevis! It is such a relaxing environment with service that is second to none. We especially enjoyed attending tennis classes with Nicola during our week on the island. She was a wonderful teacher with pure enthusiasm for the game that was highly contagious. The classes were so much fun and a wonderful work out! Perfect! My husband and I were able to drop our two boys off at the Four Seasons Kids Club and head over to the courts without any worry. Would highly recommend

We just got back from a week at the Four Seasons – an easy, direct flight from NYC, and provided exactly the relaxing vacation my wife and I needed. Here are the Pros and Cons: Pros: Excellent tennis instruction, well-maintained clay and hard courts and robust pro-shop: I met Leon Patchett, the Pro, while at Little Dix Bay about a year and a half ago – he was the Pro there at the time and excels at teaching both the physical and mental game – he’s a big reason why we ultimately decided to spend the week in Nevis. We don’t have children, so the presence of an adult infinity pool, far away from the family pool, was a welcome addition. Service for both drinks and food poolside was very attentive. Rooms were adequate, nothing exceptional, but comfortable. I would expect a plunge pool villa would be the ideal. I was told that the resort will soon undergo a complete renovation – I’m excited to see the result. Breakfast, as in the case of all Four Seasons properties, was very good, and service throughout the hotel, was memorable. Cons: On-property food options were limited. Thankfully, within a two minute walk down the beach (as well as short taxi rides), we found other solid dining options. The spa, although adequate, wasn’t exceptional. The practitioners were good, but the location, next to a parking area where you can see the parking flood lights from the outdoor jacuzzi pool, was awkward. We spent two weeks at the Four Seasons in Bora Bora this past November – that spa was amazing. As for the island of Nevis, it’s a very safe place. There are other very nice resorts in the Caribbean, but venturing outside the property can sometimes be a challenge.

The Four Seasons Nevis tennis program is outstanding. I attended clinics and took private lessons with the fantastic resort pro, Leon Patchett. Leon is a patient, kind, yet demanding instructor. In 4 days of playing I saw significant improvement in my game. In the clinics he stressed strategy and building confidence. I was able to keep up with more advanced players with Leon’s guidance. The setting is stunning, and the courts are flawless, as you would expect from the Four Seasons. Leon also offered to help match me with other players for games. All of the Four Seasons staff is exceptional, and made my vist as a solo traveler very comfortable. I had so much fun during my visit. I can’t recommend this resort enough and look forward to returning soon!

Spent a week at the resort in June – great facilities, as you’d expect from a Four Seasons property. The highlight of my trip has been the tennis – been able to play every morning. Courts are beautifully maintained, and I could get used to someone bringing iced minted towels to help cool off! I have taken lessons with Leon, the tennis director, while in Nevis and he was fantastic – best pro across the multiple tennis vacations we’ve taken! My young daughter loved him as well – sometimes difficult to find a pro who is equally great with intermmediate kids and more advanced adults. I am certainly going back home relaxed but, more importantly, with new tennis skills to use back at the club. Thanks, Leon!

The four seasons Nevis was a beautiful property with fantastic staff and service. I played tennis every day during my stay and while the facilities were superb – amazing clay court and hard court facility. More importantly, Leon the tennis director went out of his way to make this a truly memorable tennis experience. I took private lessons, our group of women did some private clinics and Leon even set me up with match play with one of his local clients. I also went to the spa multiple days and had amazing service every time – I especially enjoyed massage and facial treatments with Lesley. The receptionists at the spa were also very accommodating and courteous. Overall, a fantastic vacation!! Will be back

Tennis tuition was extremely good. great fun and very informative. Leon really knows his tennis and teaches / coaches very well to get the best out of you. NEGATIVE – have to pay a fortune to use a court even if you are a guest.

Recently spent a week at the Four Seasons Nevis and was very impressed with all aspects of the resort. The tennis program is first rate; each weekday, the tennis pro has a clinic on a particular area of the game (groundstrokes, volleys, strategy, etc.) I attended the clinic all five weekdays of my stay as well as taking a private lesson, and Leon, the tennis pro, was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun to work with. There is also a Tuesday afternoon mixed doubles social for a bit of casual match play. Service at the resort is the best of anyplace we have ever stayed. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. I played 36 holes of golf at the resort’s course during the week and enjoyed the course. It’s a challenging layout, with many elevation changes and plenty of opportunities to lose balls if you miss fairways, but still lots of fun. Each cart has a range finder, which was a nice touch. I attended a free golf clinic one afternoon and Robert, the golf pro, quickly determined the swing problem that was causing my low snap hook and set me straight. Food at the resort was very good. My only minor complaint would be that the lunch menu is a bit limited. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices including made-to-order eggs & omelettes. Great coffee too. It’s worth getting off of the property and experiencing some of the local restaurants; we went to Coconut Grove one night and Bananas another evening, and would highly recommend both. We loved our time at the Four Seasons Nevis and are already penciling in a return trip on our calendar for next year.

Tennis program was beyond excellent. I had 4 lessons with Leon the head pro. We also took advantage of the adult and kids tennis clinics which my boys loves and it added extra time for me to get in the court and practice what Leon had taught me. I just got back to New York and I feel like I have a huge edge over my playing partners. The clay courts were also kept beautifully. I would return to four seasons Nevis just to play tennis and take some lessons with Leon. Top notch.

Recently stayed at the Four Seasons Nevis and had fantastic experience enjoying their tennis program. The courts and facilities themselves were in great shape, however the quality and courtesy of the pros represented the most impressive aspect of the program. Its rare to find a resort that so successfully combines scenery, facilities, and personnel, yet Four Seasons Nevis has done so. Many thanks to the team at large.

My wife and I are competitive players and we could not have asked for a better coach than Max. His tips were very useful and his patience limitless. It was a joy to take first lessons with him. The tennis complex is simply amazing and Leon, the Aussie Tennis Director, does an outstanding job with his programs.

Great drills and pointers. David Wilson is a top notch instructor as well as a personable guy who made us feel very relaxed. We participated in a number of drills and a local mixer that was a ball. I highly recommend the Four Seasons Nevis if you are looking for a stunning location with great tennis facilities.
The instructors at this resort are amazing. My game improved, and I met some great people at their mixers and clinics. This is the place for people that play tennis #bottomline
Specifically, tennis pro Katie Dellich went above and beyond to make our tennis experience exceptional. Her expertise and good humor were remarkable.
