This resort/residential development occupies the tip of a peninsula, 28 miles north of the Puerto Vallarta airport and adjacent to the fishing village of Punta de Mita on Banderas Bay (Bahia de Banderas). White-sand beaches and rocky outcrops line its nine miles of shoreline, which border turquoise waters guarded by coral reefs, while the jungle-covered Sierra Madre Mountains form a backdrop to the east. Within its 2,700 acres are private residences and villas, two Jack Nicklaus golf courses, a 10-court Punta Mita Tennis Club, and two resort hotels—the 120-room St. Regis and a 173-room Four Seasons—each with its own amenities. All of this is part of a stretch of Mexico’s Pacific Coast lately dubbed the Riviera Nayarit.
Since the tennis club is an amenity of the resort rather than of one of the hotels Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico (although the Four Seasons does manage it), you can stay at either or in a rental villa and enjoy the identical playing privileges. The Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita was the first to be built. It opened in 1999 with 173 rooms—32 of them suites—scattered across the property in tile-roofed Mexican-style casitas behind a scalloped coast of white sand and rock along the Pacific Ocean. All open out onto furnished terraces or balconies and have the upscale amenities you’d expect, including flatscreen TVs, high-speed (but costly) Internet access, and soaking tubs and separate showers. Guests further have access to the Four Seasons’ Apuane Spa, three pool complexes (one with a lazy river pool), a 3,000-square-foot fitness center, and a staffed game room for kids. There are also three restaurants at the Four Seasons.
St. Regis Resort Punta Mita, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico; The St. Regis Resort Punta Mita opened in 2008 with 120 rooms, 31 of them suites. It fronts a beach near the tip of the peninsula. Its rooms occupy tile-roofed two-story clusters, decorated in Mediterranean-Mexican style and all opening onto a terrace or balcony with ocean or garden views. It likewise has three swimming pools—an infinity pool at the beach and one each for adults and families—and a children’s club for those ages 5 to 12. Its 10,000-square-foot Remède Spa has 10 treatment rooms, while its sun-drenched fitness center features Technogym equipment. Dining options range from the casual beach club to International fare at Carolina, The Signature Restaurant.
The tennis and pickleball club consists of five hard and four artificial grass courts, as well as four permanent pickleball courts, under the direction of Peter Burwash International’s Miguel Lopez. Originally from Guanajuato, Mexico, Lopez went on to play for Limestone College in South Carolina, where he captained the squad and played No. 1 singles and doubles. He also earned the MVP and Sportsmanship Awards in consecutive years. After graduation, he played Futures and Challengers events before joining the ITESM TEC of Monterrey Campus Irapuato as coach of the Varsity Tennis teams. He joined PBI in 2012, directing the program at Rosewood Little Dix Bay and then joining the team at Thanyapura in Thailand. At Punta Mita, his weekly roster includes adult and junior clinics, a Cardio tennis workout, game-matching services, and a round-robin mixer.

Beach: With water on three sides of the peninsula, no guest is every very far from the beach and both resort hotels front their own stretches of sand, the Four Seasons on the Pacific, the St. Regis on the Bay of Banderas.
Golf Courses: Jack Nicklaus designed two courses for the resort:
Pacifico Course: This award-winning championship course concludes with an unusual 19th hole: a 199-yard, par 3 dubbed “Tail of the Whale” whose green sits atop a natural island out in the Pacific. At low tide it’s possible to walk to the green; but at high tide, access requires the use of an aquatic vehicle stationed nearby. Par 72

Spa & Fitness Center: Four Seasons: its Apuane Spa borders a relaxation garden and offers a range of treatments using flora believed to have healing properties by the local Huichol Indians who named them. Among the options are Mexican green-coffee slimming wraps, warm stone therapy massages, the Margarita massage (utilizing tequila, sea salt, and lime juice). Manicures, pedicures, and salon service available as well. Within its walls is a generous fitness center with more than 20 piece of Technogym cardio equipment in a room with windows on three sides and views of the foliage outdoors as well as a full suite of Technogym strength stations supplemented by free weights, dumbbells and two Radiant wall stations.
The watersports palapa at Cuevas Beach has kayaks, snorkeling equipment, and sailboats. Snorkeling is as close as the waters off Cuevas Beach. There are also guided hikes into the surrounding hills, nature walks, yoga and water aerobics classes. Numerous off-property options are available as well including horseback riding on the beach, surfing (the nearby small town of Sayulita attracts surfers, thought there is also surfing at Punta de Mita), and scuba diving.

Arturo the pro was fantastic. I only had the chance to take two lessons with him and one group hitting session. For the lessons in 2 hours I learned two fundamental mistakes I have been making and adjusted them. I didn’t want to take on too much and he didn’t want to give too much in too short a time- very patient and understanding of him! For the group session I was partnered w/ a beginner and he adjusted his play equally to both of our hitting. I would strongly recommend a week with Arturo to improve your game, his experience and knowledge is invaluable

I took my first lesson (after 15 years) and had an excellent instructor-Arturo, who help me get back into the game by working with my closely on technique and basics. Just three month ago I picked up a racket for the first time and Christian was my first instructor. His patience and excellent communication skills helped me quickly learn the basics – grip, forehand, backhand, stance, and foot movement. Upon returning to the states I took a first timers clinic where thanks to Christian I was the star pupil. I have since taken lessons weekly. Now three months in to learning I took lessons again from Christian and found that he is also an excellent instructor for advancing my game. My wife is a much more experienced player and she also benefited from Christian instruction. Finally, my two boys (ages 11 and 13) have been instructed by Christian. In all we have taken private lessons with Christian and participated in his group sessions – all were a great experience and we found him to be an excellent instructor for all skill levels and all ages. Another visit to Punta Mita that truly impressed. The highlight of my week is the tennis. Alex and his team do an excellent job keeping me and my kids working hard, improving and having fun. They are well coordinated with the hotel concierge and the transportation is easy and always available. The program is run by Alex Korsh and Peter Burwash International (PBI). The PBI programs are consistently excellent and the personnel superior. It makes for a fantastic experience. Alex is a strong teacher who is able to adjust himself to my level and keep me thinking and working to improve. Other locations have had someone just playing with me, but not teaching me. Not the case here. Over the past three visits, he is consistent in what he teaches so I am not constantly trying to change things over and over. He is also fun and personable. Alex is always keeping me on my tennis toes and making the lessons as serious as I want them to be. Alex also ran some of the children’s sessions during our visit. My kids loved the games that helped develop skills. Alex’s mantra is the kids need to have fun. Little do they know, they are getting better at their tennis. JP taught my 8 year olds a few private lessons this year. Their tennis experience was on par with their beach time–a real coup! JP is a natural with them. He is knowledgable, for sure. And he knows how to take his skills from very young with no experience to the most skilled. I’ve seen him do it as he goes from an hour with my children to a lesson with the best on the island the very next. We can’t wait to get back to Punta Mita for more tennis. While we’re there, we’ll enjoy the beach too. That’s the bonus!

Playing tennis with Alex was the highlight of my trip. Not only is he a very nice guy, but he’s a great teacher too. He knows when to instruct and when to just let you play- he was also keen at understanding how to motivate me to be better. Alex and JP were outstanding tennis professionals. I am an experienced player who competes in USTA leagues in Colorado. They gave me specific pointers that I have been applying in my match play: blocking mid-court volleys, using the wind to my advantage, serving more effectively. With my son who is a tournament player, they both encouraged and advanced him. They had great skills with kids and yet they improved his tehnique. They set up matches for us and did useful clinics. Not only is the tennis facility stellar, but also Alex Korch, the PBI pro on site, is a first rate instructor. Like all of the 4 Seasons staff, he is cordial, professional, and very capable at his job. The courts are well maintained, and there is always one available. My only reservation is that I am not a big fan of the type of soft court here, but I am in a minority on that reaction. Just came back from 4 Seasons Punta Mita and had a great experience in every way. The 4 seasons property is outstanding with 2 beaches, 3 pools, and great restaurants with a tremendous view. I generally don’t even bother to bring my rackets when going on vacation as am usually left wanting in terms of both facilities and partners so not worth the frustration. The tennis in Punta Mita however made a great trip even better. On the first day Alex the pro organized a great round robin combining many different levels and ended up with great competition and fun for all. On subsequent days I played with him directly which was a real treat for me because years and pounds ago I played professionally and nice to get out and push ones self. He was flexible with his time and always positive and energetic. Overall the facility has 10 new courts and superb facilities with a pro-shop, exercise room and locker rooms right by the courts. I would definitely think about going back and would be hoping for an experience similar at any other facility now that I have seen what is possible. In summer it is very hot middle of the day so need to make sure to wear plenty of sun block and hat etc but club helps by providing water and cold towels. Otherwise play early or late in the day (Courts also have lights) Overall a great experience and can not say enough about Alex and his team

They have lots of courts including grass courts. They provide you with cold water and towels. They offer several clinics throughout the week as well as one mixer. They even have a ball machine. The staff is very nice. There is a small pro shop with balls, racquets, hats, clothing, snacks, etc. The facility accommodates the entire gated community. The only negative is cost. It is very expensive compared to your typical clubs at home. They add a service charge on top of the already costly fee. Overall it is a very nice club and worth a visit.

Not the case here. Over the past three visits, he is consistent in what he teaches so I am not constantly trying to change things over and over. He is also fun and personable. Alex is always keeping me on my tennis toes and making the lessons as serious as I want them to be.
Alex also ran some of the children’s sessions during our visit. My kids loved the games that helped develop skills. Alex’s mantra is the kids need to have fun. Little do they know, they are getting better at their tennis.
JP taught my 8 year olds a few private lessons this year. Their tennis experience was on par with their beach time–a real coup! JP is a natural with them. He is knowledgable, for sure. And he knows how to take his skills from very young with no experience to the most skilled. I’ve seen him do it as he goes from an hour with my children to a lesson with the best on the island the very next.
We can’t wait to get back to Punta Mita for more tennis. While we’re there, we’ll enjoy the beach too. That’s the bonus!

Alex runs a first class tennis operation at Punta Mita. He is also amongst the top pros I’ve had the honour of working with world-wide. Alex has the uncanny ability to very quickly identify a player’s weaknesses and then focuses his energy toward improving those areas with a goal of making all players well rounded. He also has fantastic personality which makes spending an hour each day of my holiday with him a real pleasure. I’m looking forward to my third year in a row with Alex over Xmass 2011/2012!
Playing tennis with Alex was the highlight of my trip. Not only is he a very nice guy, but he’s a great teacher too. He knows when to instruct and when to just let you play- he was also keen at understanding how to motivate me to be better. He listened to my goals on Monday and helped me along throughout the week to meet them and surpass them by Friday. He’s the type of teacher I’d love for my local tennis club to have to hit with me and my children! My husband and I both really enjoyed meeting Alex and JP and would return to Punta Mita in large part due to them.
Alex was a great teacher to my 3 year old son learning to play tennis, kept him entertained and moving the entire time. He has great range as he was also able to give me a run for my money as competition, and I am a 5.0 tennis player. He’s a versatile player who is also very personable, which are great qualities for an instructor to have. He was full of great pointers and advice and we are looking forward to visiting again next year and taking lessons with him.
Alex was fantastic in my, and my fiance’s, private lessons. I had not played in some time and with his help I really felt like I brought my game back. We came home excited to get back on the court. A great overall experience. //BL
Alex and PJ offer great clinics and also private lessons. Face paced, great variation and also fun. I played tennis 10 out of 10 days and honed my game. Excellent staff and beautiful setting.
Alex and JP are the best. They have the capacity to structure the instruction to the interests and capabilities of each player without leaving anyone behind. Excellent facility with even better staff!
The tennis center was first class with soft and hard courts in perfect condition.The pro ,Alex was top notch ! we normally take one lesson per vacation,but took three because of the progress Alex was able to make with our doubles game.Would have taken a fourth but I ran out of vacation days.
The tennis facility at Punta Mita is new and first rate. Beautiful courts and great instruction for any level player from Alex Korch. I’d give it my unqualified endorsement.
Alex and JP were outstanding tennis professionals. I am an experienced player who competes in USTA leagues in Colorado. They gave me specific pointers that I have been applying in my match play: blocking mid-court volleys, using the wind to my advantage, serving more effectively. With my son who is a tournament player, they both encouraged and advanced him. They had great skills with kids and yet they improved his tehnique. They set up matches for us and did useful clinics. We are going back next year. And by the way they had a good sense of humor.
Not only is the tennis facility stellar, but also Alex Korch, the PBI pro on site, is a first rate instructor. Like all of the 4 Seasons staff, he is cordial, professional, and very capable at his job. He focused on two big changes for me to make in my strokes, and the resulting improvement in my game has been noteworthy. He was clear, patient and enjoyable to hit with. The courts are well maintained, and there is always one available. My only reservation is that I am not a big fan of the type of soft court here, but I am in a minority on that reaction. Otherwise, the Punta Mita tennis center and its pro couldn’t be better!!!

Alex is very patient, willing to help, enthusiastic, friendly and extremely accommodating. He was extremely flexible and accommodating with our schedule for private tennis lessons. Our private tennis lessons were one of the highlights of our vacation. My friend was a first time tennis player and he helped improve her game so much. We were going to do one lesson but after our first lesson we were addicted and came back every day! THANKS ALEX!!
Just returned from 4Seasons Punta Mita. Great resort, excellent tennis facility and very friendly staff. Alex Korch is the pro and he was outstanding. I had a hitting/playing session with him and another that my wife joined in on. We both improved and look forward to another visit.
Courts were in great shape. It was great to play on the artifical grass courts. New experience. Alex Korch (pro) was great to hit with & does a good job of working with all levels. Overall great place.
The tennis facility at the Four Seasons Punta Mita is exceptional and oustanding. The tennis courts (hard courts and grass courts) are well maintained and it’s easy to schedule lessons and court time. Alex Korch is an excellent instructor for PBI and in a short time has given me very helpful tips to improve my tennis game.
My wife and I recently vacationed in beautiful Punta Mita for a third time (twice this year). We enjoyed our visit even more this last time by starting our mornings out with a lesson with Alex, Punta Mita’s tennis pro. He is such a good and patient teacher and the facilities are beautiful as well. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

My wife and I recently traveled to the Four Seasons Punta Mita to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. I brought my racquets with the hope that I would be able to play during our trip. I was thrilled with the quality of the Four Season’s tennis facilities and even more thrilled with the quality of Alex Korch’s friendliness and playing ability. Since I am an advanced player, I wanted to play points and sets and I had a great time playing against Alex. I enjoyed it so much that I played several times during my stay. Thanks again to Alex and the Four Season’s team for a great time.
Just came back from 4 Seasons Punta Mita and had a great experience in every way. The 4 seasons property is outstanding with 2 beaches, 3 pools, and great restaurants with a tremendous view.
I generally don’t even bother to bring my rackets when going on vacation as am usually left wanting in terms of both facilities and partners so not worth the frustration. The tennis in Punta Mita however made a great trip even better. On the first day Alex the pro organized a great round robin combining many different levels and ended up with great competition and fun for all.
On subsequent days I played with him directly which was a real treat for me because years and pounds ago I played professionally and nice to get out and push ones self. He was flexible with his time and always positive and energetic.
Overall the facility has 10 new courts and superb facilities with a pro-shop, exercise room and locker rooms right by the courts. I would definitely think about going back and would be hoping for an experience similar at any other facility now that I have seen what is possible.
In summer it is very hot middle of the day so need to make sure to wear plenty of sun block and hat etc but club helps by providing water and cold towels. Otherwise play early or late in the day (Courts also have lights)
Overall a great experience and can not say enough about Alex and his team
The new tennis facility in Punta Mita is outstanding! Whether you are going to just play with friends or are looking to meet new ones you will be greeted by a kind and professional staff. Alex is an excellent instructor and easily adapts to all levels. The option for hard courts or grass courts is an added bonus. The mixed tennis events allows for great social play. I will definitely go back! It can’t be beat!!
Alex (Korch) was superb at teaching our two daughters (aged 11 & 9) during private clinics. Both girls immediately wanted follow-up lessons after their initial outing – his style was very relaxed and fun but at the same time highly informative, helpful and confidence-building to their beginner games. Facilities were excellent. First rate.
Went down for a vacation with friends and ended up spending a lot of time at the tennis center. Very nice courts and staff were helpful. The head pro Alex was a great coach, he’ll train you as hard as you want, and is very knowledgeable. He also hooked me up with some great hitting partners, which was a nice touch.
As a resident I really enjoy playing tennis at the Punta Mita tennis facility,great courts, great players,and great fun,whatever your level of tennis.Alex does a great job of organising a variety of games to suit everyone`s needs.No problems with court availability,no need to book in advance,just show up and be ready to play.
We took a family vacation at Punta Mita right before our teenage son’s varsity tennis tryout. We scheduled a lot of time with pro Alex Korch, and it could not have been better. He was fantastic with our son and his friend, as well as parents and younger sister. The courts are great and not over-booked, and the instruction was fun and excellent.
Love, love, love this facility. Staff and especially Alex Korch are friendly and so helpful catering to your every need. Round Robins are fun and a great way to meet residents and guests to Punta Mita. I highly recommend this beautiful resort.

Was a fantastic experience start to finish. Booking/sign in staff was very efficient and cordial. Pro was knowledgeable and insightful as to improving my game in a short period of time. Most importantly very articulate and a good communicator in relaying those critiques. Equipment was in excellent shape.
Tennis center is a beautiful facility. Alex Korch is an excellent instructor. I had the opportunity to play as his partner in a round robin during my stay. He is an amazing player. They have lots of courts including grass courts. They provide you with cold water and towels. They offer several clinics throughout the week as well as one mixer. They even have a ball machine. The staff is very nice. There is a small pro shop with balls, racquets, hats, clothing, snacks, etc. The facility accommodates the entire gated community. The only negative is cost. It is very expensive compared to your typical clubs at home. They add a service charge on top of the already costly fee. Overall it is a very nice club and worth a visit.
I had a wonderful experience at Punta Mita. One of the highlights of my trip were the tennis lessons I received from tennis pro Alex Korch. I highly recommend a lesson from him if you are looking to improve your game no matter what level you play at.
Lovely facilities both at the hotel, beach, pools, etc. and at the Tennis Club. Ten Courts some clay, some grass, some hard. Great clinics and instructors.
Great facilities with 10 courts in top condition in the middle of a tropical paradise. Head tennis pro knows his stuff and has other local pros lined up to help as well. The Four Seasons is definitely investing in their tennis facilities in Punta Mita and it shows. We had a great time there and plan to go back.
last week I spent a few days at a conference at the Four Seasons. Packing raquets,I had the occasion to hit with Alex Korch who is not only a terrific player, his ability to communicate subtle corrections and suggestions made two great hitting sessions a learning experience, great excercise, and a real pleasure. Alex is a terrific kid and equally a great teaching professional.
Alex is a very professional tennis instructor. He is also very nice and fun to take classes with. I got a tremendous amount out of the short time I played with him. Furthermore, the Punta Mita resort is amazing, making it a great place to play tennis.
The Four Seasons Punta Mita has an outstanding tennis facility that is run by one o the best new pros I have ever met at a resort, Alex Korch. I played with Alex for the entire week I was here and loved every bit of it. He is a great pro who gives helping hints to improve where appropriate, and plays hard to give you a great workout. The weather here is simply outstanding. Highly recommend!
