Golf Courses: Topnotch does not have a golf course of its own; however, guests do have privileges at the exclusive Country Club of Vermont and the staff can arrange for guests to play on the 18-hole championship course at the Stowe Country Club nearby.
Spa & Fitness Center: At 35,000 square feet, the highly rated Topnotch Spa is central amenity. It offers 120 rejuvenating and skin-care treatments as well as a full-service salon, indoor pool, a whirlpool with cascading waterfall, and state-of-the-art fitness studios for daily classes, yoga and Pilates instruction, weight training and cardiovascular workouts, and personal training.
Horseback Riding: The equestrian center just across the road from the resort offers guided trail rides, instruction in both English and Western riding, a training ring for experienced riders, and pony rides for kids. It’s open from mid-May to November. During the winter months, the equestrian center offers sleigh rides through the Vermont countryside.
Biking & Jogging Trails: Across Rte. 108 from the resort, near the indoor tennis courts and equestrian center, is the trail head for the Stowe Recreation Path. Begun in 1981, this 5.3-mile paved byway parallels Rte. 108 all the way into Stowe, providing bicyclists, joggers, and in-line skaters with their own traffic-free thoroughfare. The winding path crosses the Little River 11 times on the way from Main Street in Stowe to just beyond Topnotch. Along the way it passes century-old trees and affords views of quintessential Vermont village architecture, fields of wildflowers, covered bridges. and Mount Mansfield. And it’s free. Bikes and in-line skates can be rented from the Nordic Barn Recreation Center.
In addition to the indoor spa pool, there are two pools just outside, the larger of them open seasonally, the smaller one, which is heated, and its adjacent hot tub are open year round. Both pools are surrounded by flagstone decking and stonework. And in winter, there is skiing at nearby Mt. Mansfield.
Children's programs: The experienced resort staff keeps kids active and engaged throughout their stay, offering a variety of fun things geared specifically to kids. With family activities such as kite-flying, berry picking, arts and crafts, snowshoeing and evening bonfires as part of an ever-changing schedule, the kids will find plenty to do. The summer summer junior camps are also a favorite with kids ages 6-12.
Dining: The Roost, a modern lobby bar and restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, capitalizing on its indoor-outdoor setting to offer a casual place to gather, not only for good food but also its lively bar scene, craft beers, and outdoor fire pit.

Top Notch Tennis Academy is a great place to play and bring families. The instruction is “top notch” and they cater to all abilities and strengths. I would highly recommend this resort and the head pro, Milan Kubala is outstanding.
Milan, Shaun and Megan are inspirational instructors.
As a member of Top Notch and a tennis player I fin d the Total program excellent. The surrounds are beautiful and facilities really special. There s a need for more tennis courts.
Exceptional tennis academy. Spectacular setting. Stowe is amazing.
Love Stowe Vt and Topnotch for Tennis and other outdoor pursuits. Tennis is really “Topnotch”. I have done the academy as well as clinics. All the instructors are knowledable and I have seen them work with beginners to league players. Drills are fun and keep moving with all levels in mind. Will definately be back again and recommend to my friends.
My husband and I came to Topnotch for a tennis getaway. We were blown away by the facilities, and especially the tennis. The pros were excellent, the academies worthwhile, and the overall experience absolutely enjoyable. We’ll be back next year!
Excellent tennis instruction. Milan Kubala is the best instructor I ever had. My game improved the most at Topnotch.
The pros are fantastic teachers and high-energy motivators. We love the program and the staff. Great with A players to kids.
Great area for a vacation, single, couples, or families. Activities for all, and tennis for all who want it!; plenty to do for those who don’t play, too. Outstanding instruction to win matches, as well as accommodations and food options. Equal to my other favorite resort: La Valencia, in Rancho Santa Fe, Ca.
The Topnotch Tennis Center has four great indoor courts for Winter enjoyment and outdoor courts for beautiful Summer tennis. Tennis pro Shaun Zemanek is a terrific coach for adults and children – perfect blend of technical pointers, fun, and pushing one to do their best.
Great juniors program. Nice to be able to play year round with their indoor courts. Also, the amenities at the resort and wonderful to enjoy after playing tennis all day.
We stay at high-end tennis resorts often. Topnotch isn’t the most luxurious, but is quite comfortable, and set in the beautiful Vermont mountains, with wonderful summer weather. The adult tennis program was excellent, with a high pro-to-student ratio, and, importantly, indoor courts to fall back on if the weather is uncooperative. This is a critical aspect.
But what set this tennis resort apart from all the others we’ve been to was the amazing ability of the teaching pros to entertain and teach our 7 and 9 year olds. If you have young kids, this is your resort. Somehow they found young pros who know tennis and kids — extremely rare in our experience. Kit, Dave, and Megan (among others) received rave reviews from our kids, and we watched one of the days from a nearby court and saw that they were teaching tennis, not just entertaining. This was for three hours a day. We will be back on this strength alone, and I hope the resort holds onto and finds more pros of this caliber.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially the tennis. We felt very catered to. The pros were patient (as a 3.0 I needed that) and very knowledegable (husband as a 4.5 needed that). They split us into groups by ability and focused on our individual shortcomings. It was very personal. The pros were inspiring and always upbeat. The flair provided by pros from different countries was intriguing. Having views of the mountains made it more exciting. It was our first time participating in a tennis vacation clinic. We look forward to going back!!
Amazing facilities and a wonderful, friendly and skillful staff. Great all around!
Topnotch Resort and Spa offers some of the best tennis instruction available. Private lessons and clinics are very reasonable and offer an opportunity to rapidly improve your game. The other amenities at the resort make any visit to the resort one to remember.
Everything about Topnotch is superb. The instruction was one of the best I have had and Shaun was an exceptional teacher that has a warm and friendly personality. I am trying to figure out how fast I can get back there for more. I highly recommend this experience from both a resort and tennis experience!
Excellent, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great indoor facility, can’t wait to go back this summer and experience the outdoor courts. Stowe is a quaint and fun town to explore.
I stayed at Topnotch for both business and pleasure very recently and I found the days/nights I spent there to be a fantastic experience. Their tennis facilities are without a shadow of doubt top notch (sorry I had to slip that in there)….but seriously I would totally recommend Topnotch’s tennis academy to anyone whatever level you are at. The instructors I found to be friendly, experienced and pretty good players when all was said and done 🙂 I was very happy with my stay at Topnotch and I certainly plan on staying there again next time I find myself in northern Vermont.
My family and I spent a glorious post-Christmas getaway at Topnotch and stayed in one of their resort homes. While my husband and kids took to the slopes, I played tennis at the Topnotch Tennis Club. My pro, Sean, really helped my game and I’ve played some of the best tennis since. We’re heading back in a few weeks and I can hardly wait to hit the courts again.
I found the staff, friendly and professional.I have had many lessons and been to other tennis resorts. This was the best experience ever. You cannot do a week of tennis lessons/clinics here and not improve every aspect of your game.In one hour,Milan(headpro)improved my service toss,my forehand, and my stratergy. Play outdoors in the beutiful mountains of Vermont.
Shawn, Nick and Milan were wonderful instructors who help you raise your game to win, this is our 2nd year in a row at the camp. they make it fun also. We plan to return next year, love the tennis, the spa, the food and the Stowe area.
The entire ‘resort experience’ at Topnotch Resort and Spa was, “I died and went to heaven.” The indoor pool and hot tub kept my knees going as did the outdoor pool and outdoor hot tub. There are 2 outdoor pools: one is an ‘adults only’ pool that is a real God-send. The on-site restaurant, “Norma’s” served really good food, done with a flare, at reasonable prices. The staff throughout the were all excellent from top to bottom.
Three hours of tennis from 9AM-12noon was perfect and the instructors were all very knowledgeable and extremely flexible and willing to listen: something some teaching pros have a difficult time doing. Nick introduced some new teaching drills that were a lot of fun and helped greatly. The pro shop was not the most up-to-date and we were not video-taped, but I did leave with two game-changing ‘adjustments’ which after 30+ years of playing and a dozen or so different tennis camps, is a real accomplishment!
I’ve been to several Tennis camps over the years. Most of them good ones.however after coming to Topnotch for the first time a few years ago i won’t go to any other. Milan and his staff are amazing. Each instructor Shaun,Nick,Tony and the rest of the pro’s bring something unique to the table.without changing anything major in my game each year when I return home my game is at a new level. Most importantly it’s great fun.
This was at least my fifth time visiting Topnotch. Milan and his staff run an outstanding tennis program for players of all levels. The instruction by the pros, Shaun and Tony and the rest, is exceptional. They can take anyone to the next level. And, it is impossible to beat the beautiful setting of the resort.
My tennis team went for an end of the season experience, which was in April, the off season at Top Notch. Initially we did not get the rooms we expected, but the response of the staff was tremendous, open and accomodating. Although we were there off season, the staff attention was tremendous. The spa facility lovely, the staff professional, and the experience, rejuvenating. The tennis pros were talented and positive. We would definitely recommend this resort!
Milan and his team were amazing as was the resort. Will definately make this a yearly adventure. Check out the Challenge Tennis Package and then add on spa treatments for the ultimate nirvana!!!!
A wonderful adventure in a lovely place. The tennis was great. Instructors were professional and courteous. Supportive and thorough in stroke work, clinics and game suggestions. I plan to return.
love it – guest of many years
My mixed doubles team was lucky enough to have a match scheduled at Topnotch indoors this past December. This tennis facility is really beautiful. The courts are very nice and viewing area is very comfortable. The woman’s locker room – complete with real wood lockers – was the nicest I had ever been in.
AWEsome All coaches are great been going there for yearsvery consistent
Over all amazing experience here. The kids had the best time of all. They offered a outstanding program for kids and they all seemed to have a wonderful time. The instructors were hands down the best our family has ever had. I would suggest this resort to any family couple or individual looking for a great vacation.
this was great.it was a wonderful . i learned alot coming. thanks.
I have visited Topnotch several times with my wife and children several times and have nothing but good things to say. I am an advances player my wife a beginner and my 13 yrs & 7 yrs dughters all found themselves in ability appropriate groups. not only did they last the 3 hour morning sessions but begged to come back in the afternoon for more. The instructors could not be nicer and patient with all levels. They work you hard and make it fun at the same time. Every year we leave as better players and cant wait to return. I highly recommend for a family or couples.
TN, has a superb tennis program that caters for all ages and levels. We found our tennis improved hugely after participating in several clinics there. The coaching staff is exceptional and friendly, which makes for a very pleasant experience.
STRENGTHS: For all services and facilities Topnotch can’t be beat. For East Coast tennis resorts it is the KING of all of them. the courts are lovely, a pure pleasure to play on them. Pros are both exceptional teachers and diplomats. Even in snowy winter the indoor courts shine like Florida. Restaurant services make Paris look like a Coney Island hot dog stand. Yes, I’ve been to both.
Of the 20 or so tenis resorts I have been to, Topnotch is super great with luxury to spare. The guests are “well off” but friendly with nothing that they have to prove. It is a cool laid back companionable atmosphere.
WEAKNESSES: Heaven has few weaknesses. I did see a skunk there one night. It was shiny and well fed. Sorry no moose. But you can get husky sled dogs to pull you in the winter. Also horse drawn sleds.
A group of us (women players 3.5-4.0) have gone every year for the past 9 years to Top Notch for a fall weekend of tennis clinics (~12 hours on the courts). Milan and his staff have delivered every year on the quality of their instruction, their drills, their pace and their fun. We will surely return again next year for our 10th fall weekend!
The pros are very good at customizing their program to meet the needs of our fairly large group. Invariably, we walk away with a new way to look at a shot/strategy/situation. Advice about mechanics is nicely balanced with situational strategies, which are equally important. The pros are also very warm, kind, and not easily shocked, which our group certainly appreciated!! Year after year they bring out the best in us, which is why we keep coming back.
Just got back from 3 days at topnotch. Had a great time. Tennis instruction was excellent, coaches are very enthusiastic. Yoav in particular, an ex-tour coach, is great. They now only do the 3hrs in the morning (which gets reduced to a 2 hrs individual session if no other participants show up in your group as happened to us a couple of days). Presumably you could take individual lessons in the afternoon if you wanted more.
But Stowe is a beautiful place and there are lots of other activities on offer (hiking, biking, canoeing etc) if you want to mix things up a bit. Topnotch resort is 4 miles up the road from the town and a bit secluded so we were happy with our decision to stay in town at the green mountain inn and just drive over for the tennis.
Great resort and fantastic tennis program. Great for the whole family.
We just returned from 4 wonderful days at Topnotch Resort. We went for the tennis instruction, and it was amazing! We were fortunate to have the two best instructors we have ever had, Yoav and Shaun. They complemented each other in there approach to the game, had a wealth of knowledge to share, and some great insights into the highest levels of professional tennis. They have the experience from being coaches and players at the highest levels all over the globe, which brings a unique a understanding of the game and how to pass info on to their students.
We have both played for over 40 yrs, and learned more in 3 days than we have in the last 10 and still had lots of fun doing it. If you want to expose your game to the the most up to date techniques, and have a great time doing it, with world class instruction, go to Topnotch at Stowe and ask for Shaun and Yoav, we are going back next year, see you there!!
A beautiful location with excellent tennis facilities and tennis instruction. However, not good enough to justify its “top 10” ranking. I was there on the weekend after the Labour Day long weekend and was dissappointed by the lack of tennis players for the morning clinics; only myself one day and 2 other people the next. I suspect that my comments might have been more positive if more players had been around.
I ended up getting some very good personal instruction instead of the scheduled clinics (for which I have no complaints). The instruction was good, but certainly not the type of clinic I was expecting based on what was outlined on their website as well as comments in previous reviews. Overall, a nice vacation spot with good tennis instruction available, but I’ve certainly been to better.
I attended the Topnotch three hour adult tennis academy for two days in September. My instructor, Yoav Saarony, is an extremely gifted tennis coach. I’ve taken tennis lessons off and on for over 15 years from a number of different coaches, and I would have to say that he is one of the best. Yoav was quick to highlight the areas where my game needed work. Instead of suggesting a major overhaul of my strokes, he helped me to strengthen my overall game by tweaking my existing technique, improving my movement on the court and helping me develop a winning mindset. I would recommend the Topnotch tennis program (particulary Yoav) to any avid tennis player. Challenging, but lots of fun!
The whole teaching staff was amazing. They really succeeded at getting us older players to update our technique with modern ideas about hitting and ergonomics. They made it fun to discard old ideas for new ones that clearly work better and are frankly, more fun. Each day focused on a particular part of the game. The drills progressed during the morning 3 hours Tennis Academy sessions to show how newly learned techniques relate to real match situations. The Pros that I had (Sean, Peter) created an intense atmosphere that was fun and motivating.
All I can say is Classy! From the Director of Tennis to the newest instructor everyone made you feel at home and welcome as soon as you stepped onto resort.
Instructor Yoav Saarony is the best of the best! His straightforward instruction combined with his skill, knowledge of the game, and up-tempo drills for three hours a day is the reason to attend this resort. He has coached many top and upcoming professionals and after attending one of his daily clinics/lessons, the tennis tour doesn’t seem that hard. His knowledge of the game, demanding tennis drills and his preparedness of the clinic/lesson should be a model for all tennis instructors. Request Yoav if your a 3.5 player or above.
Well designed facility with knowledgable and outgoing staff that made some very keen observations. Lots of after tennis options, don’t miss the spa.
There were about 8 teaching pros at Topnotch. I was on court with 4 of them. Each was a dedicated professional who really enjoyed what he was doing. Three of the pros have extensive experience coaching at an international level. I trained at Bollettieri’s when I was a junior and the pros here are superior. I brought my kids (8 and 10) with me and did not hear one word of protest even though they have never been on court this much in their life. I was impressed with how well the place was run and how responsive and helpful the staff is. We had a great family vacation and the tennis instruction was excellent.
TopNotch is a great resort. They offer a wide variety of tennis professionals at reasonable prices. There are also a ton of great opportunities in the surrounding community. Play tennis indoors in the winter and ski/snowboard on the nearby mountains or take a summer vacation and enjoy the pool, hiking, trail riding, bikes and many other enjoyable outdoor activities. TopNotch is great!
This is my seventh year going back to Topnotch Tennis Resort. We go with our USTA tennis team, and the tennis instructions are not to be beleived. Three hours of drills for three days, they never stop teaching, and the praise when you do it right is remarkable. Not to mention how hard they work and how excited they get when we finally hit the ball the way they want us to.
A wonderful tennis expereince for my children, it was very fun for them and they learned alot in their short time there.
I would highly recommend this property! Great staff and excellend programs!
