Welcome to Kiawah Island Golf Resort and the Roy Barth Tennis Center, home to 22 courts, a highly experienced staff of teaching professionals, a stocked Pro Shop, and the Barth-Hawtin Tennis Academy. With so much in store for guests of the Resort and the Tennis Center, you’ll never have a shortage of on-court programming or off-court amenities.
Seasonality is Key
Summertime is one of the ideal seasons to visit the property, as the tennis programming calendar is always populated with options for both juniors and adults. Between clinic hours and post-court time, guests can dip their toes into the ocean, sip on refreshments poolside, dine on the island, tee off on the course, or simply enjoy the sound of the sea from their guest room. This summer, the Roy Barth Tennis Center is proud to offer clinics and drills Monday through Friday, including select weekend options. Adult Tennis Programming
Regardless of your level, a weekly schedule for an adult player could entail a groundstrokes clinic, a serving clinic, a net play drill session, and an Adult Tournament Tough course. Explore the full calendar of weekly training options here. Drills are available Monday through Sunday.
Junior Instruction
For juniors, explore options such as the Stroke-a-day Clinics, Junior Tennis Camps, or even a Tiny Tots option during the week. Here’s a bit more detail about each junior programming option:
Stroke-a-day Clinics
Available for ages 7-16, these clinics focus on stroke fundamentals, ball control, and footwork. These clinics are available for one hour each, split up for ages 7-11 from 4-5pm and players ages 12-16 from 3-4pm.
Junior Tennis Camps
For players seeking longer training options, camps are available May 23-September 2, Monday through Friday. There are about 10 hours of on-court instruction included within each camp session weekly (2 hours daily), and training incorporates basic strokes, singles and doubles strategy, play-action drills, and supervised play. The Barth-Hawtin Tennis Academy
Launched in 2018, the Academy has seen more than 250 student-athletes ages 6-25 participate in programs that include on-court instruction and sports science, nutrition, and performance. The Academy features full- and part-time options for residential or non-residential participants. There are also academic solutions for full-time students, including online training with an innovative curriculum. While there is a weekly schedule annually, the summer schedule offers the following programming:
Led by Director Jonathan Barth, son of Roy Barth, the Roy Barth Tennis Center at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is one of the most well-known and acclaimed properties among tennis enthusiasts. Barth prides himself on retaining the fundamentals that his father initially instilled while continuing to grow and expand the options for both residents and guests.
