A virtual city in its own right, Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas is a watery playground of its lake-sized pools and giant slides overseen by five pink-stucco hotel towers that collectively comprise some 2,300 rooms.
The hotels variously borrow their architectural inspiration from the Las Vegas versions of Greece, Mayan Mexico, and Egypt. You can swim with the dolphins in their 11-acre lagoon, dine in any of 21 restaurants, hang out in the casino, or bask on one of several beaches. Other amenities include a Tom Weiskopf-designed 18-hole golf course, a spa and fitness center, marina, movie theater, and a six-court tennis complex (three hard, three Har-Tru), a short walk or free shuttle ride from the hotel. Tennis Director PJ Major oversees the tennis facility. A native of the Bahamas, he is a veteran of the Caribbean tour, having among his other accomplishments won a bronze medal in the Pan American Games. He offers private lessons and clinics, with other programming such as round-robins and tournaments varying seasonally.
