Couples Swept Away in Negril caters to adult vacationers looking for an active vacation, tennis players—and now pickleball players—chief among them. The resort accepts couples and singles, putting them up in 312 verandaed rooms and suites scattered through a 20-acre garden that borders a seven-mile-long ribbon of soft white sand. Everything at the resort is included in the price, from lodging and meals to drinks in seven restaurants and eight bars, fitness classes, and a wealth of recreation, including golf, watersports, aerobics classes, scuba diving and, of course, tennis and pickleball.
When it comes to tennis, that means clinics for all levels of players and a round robin tournament every day from Monday through Friday on the resort’s 9 clay tennis courts and four pickleball courts, all with lights. There are three local teaching professionals on staff, all of whom have extensive teaching experience. Their clinics aside, they also provide private lessons, which like everything else is included in the all-inclusive price. Tennis and pickleball may be two of more than a dozen activities, but it commands more attention and lures more guests than any of its rivals.

Great resort for tennis and pickleball
If you are an active person and love tennis pickleball and other activities, go without a doubt. If you want to eat and do nothing go somewhere else. We have been here twice because of the fitness center/tennis programs/tennis pros.
The tennis coaching continues to be of exceptional quality. This is the primary reason why we keep returning to Couples Swept Away.
The tennis is very good and the coaching outstanding. The swimming pool is 25 meters and laned making it great for lengths swimming. The gym is disappointing, dark and the crosstainers are more like steppers which hurt your knees. They would be better having Life Fitness elliptical cross trainers which is a more natural running action and does not hurt your knees. As crosstainers are my preferred aerobic workout machine I did not use the gym.
Lots of opportunities to play daily plus free private lessons every day.
Swept Away, Negril Jamaica is a must for tennis, reading and great beach. Excellent food and entertainment before and after dinner. Good variety of entertainment as well. Very relaxing with outstanding service at Sports Complex where they cater to making sure guests are happy. They have a great smoothie bar as a must do.
New hard court surface needed.
The Tennis program and lessons are the best! The facility and staff are wonderful
This resort is best because of the numerous opportunitys to sports!
This is my absolute favorite tennis vacation destination. They bring in a visiting pro each week from PTR to run morning clinics and afternoon round robins, all of which are well-attended (great for finding new friends to play tennis with). The local pros, Norson, Jermaine, Norman, and Ryan, provide excellent private lessons that you can take daily. On Thursday afternoons, the local pros and visiting pro play an exhibition game after the round robin, which is always fun to watch. The tennis facility has 5 clay courts and 4 hard courts along with a relatively new pickleball area that is starting to come alive. The sports complex has a pool for lap swimming and water aerobics, fitness classes from visiting pros and local pros, personal training with local pros, and a wellness bar that carries fresh fruit smoothies and juices. Fantastic place for anyone sports/fitness focused and especially for tennis players! …all this and an excellent beach, great food, nice rooms.
Fantastic resort with great tennis and fitness facilities
We love this resort and have been her 6 times, the tennis lessons, clinics and round robin are a must. You meet and make life long friends with other guests, it’s great fun. We look forward to seeing them every year, coming at the same time. The pro lessons are exceptional, we learn so much, working on where each individual needs to improve. The visiting tennis coach who runs the clinics and round robin is a great asset bring something different each day to practice. We also did both the yoga and group exercise classes with the visiting pros from America and the UK, which were great. The beach is beautiful, white sand and clear water, with all the water sport you could require included is snorkelling, scuba and water skiing. No other resort can offer so much, especially the sports complex. Looking forward to next year already.
Janice and Norman best staff
excellent instructors, easy to book lessons and courts , excellent facilities.
Our first time here. We would definitely recommend it to our friends. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. No weaknesses.
Great spot for an active vacation. Great tennis courts and excellent instruction. Beach can’t be beat. Staff, for the most part, helpful and pleasant.
Couples Swept away is an all inclusive resort that includes free Scuba and many other water sports. Been going there for close to ten years. Outstanding!
Great resort with both residential and visiting pros! Scuba diving as well! Friendly staff, there with someone always available to help. Beach is beautiful, and the food is wonderful! The lodging is a little rustic, but comfortable, and they are in the process of remodeling. We have been there several times and will be returning again and again!!
Couples Swept Away is by far the best vacation resort I have ever been to and I love the tennis and fitness programs. The pros and the Managers are the best, and I cannot tell you how fantastic Noreson, Jermain, Norman, Shericka and Dalton are when it comes to being available, helpful and friendly. The entire resort represents the best in treating their guest to an awesome experience, and we have been there 5 times because of their care and excellence.
10 years at Couples Swept Away and we find this is the best resort for us. The sports and fitness side is wonderful. No other resort can match their staff and facility.
The issue with coming here is that it is soooo good, you will be back time and time again!!
Couples Swept Away is an all-inclusive resort with an excellent tennis program. There are beginner, intermediate, and advance clinics each day Monday through Friday. There is also a round robin each day Monday through Friday. With your stay you get private daily lesson with one of the resident pros (1 hour per couple). There is also usually a visiting pro that runs the clinics and round robins. There are clay and hardcourts, which are available to play on with no extra cost throughout the day. The courts are located in a sports complex, which also has a lap pool, full gym, pickleball courts, racquetball, squash courts, sauna, juice/veggie bar, and much more. There are daily fitness programs such as bootcamp, abs, and aqua fitness. There is also usually a visiting yoga instructor giving classes also. The resort also has probably the nicest beach in Jamaica, several dining options, swim up bar, nightly entertainment options, catamaran sunset cruise, snorkeling, diving, skiing, paddelboarding, and more all included. The resort is 1.5 hour drive from the Montego Bay Airport, which a shuttle to and from is provided. The resort is long and narrow, with the sports complex being across the street. The have guards to help you cross over. With the resort being narrow, even rooms in the back(Garden) of the resort aren’t far from the beach, but they are closer to the road so you will hear traffic. The resort does show its age, but they are currently remodeling the rooms which should help.
Excellent tennis.. both clay and hard courts. Daily clinics and round robin run by a visiting pro. If there isn’t a visiting pro, one of the resident pros will run clinic. You also get 1 hour a day of free private lesson per couple from resident pro. November through March are busy times and plenty of tennis players. Others times not as many players, but tennis pros will make sure you get to play. Not really a solo traveler resort.
We enjoy the social nature of this resort. My husband and I attend the advanced clinic and always meet great people with similar abilities. We often get together later in the day to play. We also can take a private lesson every day which we also enjoy and to have a person unfamiliar with us examine our strokes always provides great feedback! Every weekday evening there is a round robin tennis social that is a great way to finish our day before getting ready for a wonderful dinner.
Awesome coaches, great program. Super nice facilities.
Beautiful beach Great tennis
There is nowhere else that has tennis like this resort. There are tennis clinics Monday to Friday with a different American tennis pro each week . In the afternoon there is a round robin competition. Each room gets one hour of tennis lessons or a session with a personal trainer every day. There are also numerous courts with different surfaces which can be booked for games. They sports complex is opposite the resort and also has an 8 lane pool plus pickle ball, table tennis, gym and aerobics studio with different classes.
There is so much tennis at this great resort. Morning clinics and afternoon round robins on weekdays, 1 hour private lesson per day per room (so half hour per day if you are traveling with another tennis player). Guest pro runs the clinics and round robin and local pros give the private lessons. The resort has plenty of options for non-tennis playing guests including all kinds of sports, fitness center, water activities, awesome beach, crafts, etc. Basically everything you’d expect to find in a well-appointed all-inclusive tropical resort. The vibe is pretty casual so if you want fancy marble foyers, it’s not for you….but if you like laid back plus tennis, this is THE place.
Strengths: free daily clinics and lessons and round Robin’s, no court fees, Har-Tru courts (5) also have hardcourts., pro staff is excellent, have assortment of racquets to borrow, health bar for after tennis refreshment. Each week they have a visiting pro who runs the clinics. The one we had was just ok. Only minus, the sports complex is across a busy road from the resort but they do have crossing guards.
I visited Couples Swept Away this year. The tennis courts are beautiful and the pros are outstanding. If you love tennis and you want a Caribbean vacation, Couples Swept Away should be in the top three of your wish list. If you go, I recommend that you go with a friend or a group so that you know you will have someone to hit with. I also recommend that you take a sack of balls and grips for yourself since supplies there are limited. The courts can be very warm and muggy, so drink lots of fluids. I am an advanced player and I had trouble finding someone to hit with who wasn’t a pro. That is the only negative aspect of the trip that I had.
Amazing tennis experience, awesome beach, great food and drinks
An excellent, all-inclusive Caribbean resort that also offers an outstanding tennis program. Over a dozen courts — hard and clay, well maintained. Several Jamaican pros, with free individual lessons, daily. Plus a visiting guest pro (changes weekly) runs morning group clinics and evening round robins, on weekdays. We went during peak season, and had a great time!
My wife and I just spent a week at Couples Swept Away Negril. The resort boasts a really nice sports and fitness complex that includes five nicely-maintained green clay courts, five hard courts, a 25-meter lap swimming pool, hot tub, bar, gym, exercise studio, racquet ball and squash courts, parcourse fitness trail, basketball court, and locker rooms. The complex was uncrowded. At most I saw a dozen other vacationers at any one time. The resort offers free private lessons. Yes, free! I am a 4.5+ player and had two great one-hour lessons with head pro Brenton. My wife is a beginner and had two excellent one-hour lessons with assistant pro Narlson. The resort also offers daily 45-minute group clinics. Advanced players start at 8:00am; intermediates at 8:45am; and beginners at 4:00pm. Round robin doubles start at 4:45pm. My lessons started at 7:30am, and I was exhausted after one hour due to the high humidity. The conditions in the late afternoon seemed to be more gentle. The resort provides free loaner racquets and balls. There is a ball machine. Towels are available. In addition to the water fountains, you can get cups and ice at the bar.
This resort is a Fitness Meca! I have been to Casa de Campo, to Costa Rica, to Cancun … and the Tennis, Fitness, Gym, Sports is absolutely Second to NONE. Then, put it in this beautiful setting of the Crystal Water, White Sand Beach and Blue mountains and you are in heaven. Excellent customer service throughout. You feel like one of the family!!
Outstanding resort and the tennis/sports facility is top notch! The staff is super friendly ! Definitely one of my favorite vacation spots .
This is a very pleasant beach side, all-inclusive, adults-only resort in scenic Negril, Jamaica. There are 12 tennis courts with daytime clinics and afternoon doubles round-robins for guests. The coaching is done by visiting volunteers from USA and Canada. The athletics center also has squash courts and swimming pools. After doing tennis, there are a number of nice hot tub pools and beach bars nearby – all included. The resort also offers sea and snorkeling cruises at no cost. All-in-all, a great get-away for adults.
very good, daily drills and round robins
We stayed at Couples Swept Away, Negril – Jamaica. It was a wonderful resort with great food, an amazing beach, and 5 clay (Har-Tru) and 5 hard courts. M-F they have 1/2 hour clinics starting at 8. Advanced, Intermediate, and Beginner. As a guest you also get a 1/2 hour tennis lesson with the resident pro every day, be sure to book 48hrs in advance. We really liked Brenton and Norisson. The visiting pro Brad Holmes was amazing and kept the clinic’s fun and challenging. Due to the heat there are no lessons or clinics between 11-3 but guest are welcome to form their own pick up games. At 5pm they schedule a round robing that last about 1.5 – 2 hours. Pro’s: Great courts, sugar sand beach, wonderful food and drinks, and lot’s of other activities available. Con’s: I would have liked the player levels to be better matched during the round robin – but either way we still had a great time.
My wife and I have been to Jamaica 7 times, 3 times to Couples Swept Away. For us it’s a perfect combination of a Caribbean resort with excellent tennis. The text on Tennis Resorts Online is out of date; some of the pros listed are no longer there, and the resort is larger. But the current pros are top notch — Ashford Knight is one of the best I’ve worked with anywhere.
A number of people we met who have travelled even more than us say CSA has the best tennis facilities in the Caribbean, and I have no reason to doubt that. Plus the beach is fantastic!
My wife and I got back from our 12th trip to CSA on Dec 10 2011. The weather was great. The tennis was great. The food was great. The service was outstanding at all parts of the resort. Just another trip to CSA. We’re going back in March.
We have been to Couples Swept Away Negril 4 times since 2007 and have loved it more each time. Always perfect weather, fantastic huge white soft sandy beach with all the boating options included and a large beautiful tennis facility in which you have a choice between 5 har-tru and 5 hard courts. Also a huge pool and hot tub nearby to help mend the aching body after all the unlimited tennis. They have visiting tennis pros and tennis pros on staff which run advanced, intermediate and beginner drills every morning Monday thru Friday and a fantastic round robin every night which was fantastic because there were at least 20 or more players of all levels each night to choose from. It was a good way to meet other tennis players to set up matches.
Great food with many options to choose from which included vegetarian, asian fusion, continental and of course jamaican cuisine. We are looking forward to going back next year!
Not so much a tennis resort, as a beautiful all-inclusive beach resort, with a very impressive tennis complex as part of the overall picture.
Very well maintained courts; 5 clay, 5 hardcourt (all lit), surrounded by an olympic size lap pool, workout area, squash and racquetball courts and a bar dedicated to the sports complex only. Good instruction available, with times somewhat limited due to inclusion in the price. The 3 teaching pros were always busy, but a half hour private lesson every day was easily arranged at no extra cost. The advanced and intermediate clinics were run by a very good visiting pro, but were way too short in duration.
There was a round robin every day at 5; mostly mixed doubles. Better games could be arranged by meeting other tennis players at the morning drill sessions and lining things up on your own. Many of the guests had obviously come with tennis in mind. The resort is not huge, so you cross paths with other players all the time. The courts appeared to be for the use of guests only; no local membership.
The beach resort is beautiful; one of the nicest in the Caribbean. When not playing tennis, there is diving, sailing, snorkeling, etc, all included in the price, as well. Lots of beach bars and oceanside restaurants are also part of the package. A typical day could involve tennis hitting in the morning, beach activities during the day and round robin play in the late afternoon. By mid to late morning it was quite hot and even the avid tennis players would head to the spectacular beach. Take note: the resort is couples only, no kids, with a strong emphasis on romance.
