Couples Swept Away in Negril caters to adult vacationers looking for an active vacation, tennis players—and now pickleball players—chief among them. The resort accepts couples and singles, putting them up in 312 verandaed rooms and suites scattered through a 20-acre garden that borders a seven-mile-long ribbon of soft white sand. Everything at the resort is included in the price, from lodging and meals to drinks in seven restaurants and eight bars, fitness classes, and a wealth of recreation, including golf, watersports, aerobics classes, scuba diving and, of course, tennis and pickleball.
When it comes to tennis, that means clinics for all levels of players and a round robin tournament every day from Monday through Friday on the resort’s 9 clay tennis courts and four pickleball courts, all with lights. There are three local teaching professionals on staff, all of whom have extensive teaching experience. Their clinics aside, they also provide private lessons, which like everything else is included in the all-inclusive price. Tennis and pickleball may be two of more than a dozen activities, but it commands more attention and lures more guests than any of its rivals.

My wife and I had a great experience when we stayed at Couples Swept Away. The Ali Cart restaurants were excellent. The accommodations were okay. ( we stayed an Atrium room ) The balcony was huge but needed to be upgraded. Their beach was fabulous. I loved the tennis complex and the tennis instruction I got during the week. Free tennis lesson every morning and a round robin tournament in the afternoon. It was a lot of fun. We definitely will go back to Couples Swept Away, we’ll just stay in one of the newer renovated rooms.

I had a personal tennis lesson with Norson every day during my stay. He is a superb coach and my tennis has improved way beyond my wildest dreams. He is so patient and gives just the right amount of advice. Enough detail without “over-load”.
I love playing tennis here. Fantastic facilities. So many different options. Private lessons or a group session.. There is a Round Robin competition held on week-days. Great for all levels of players – experts, intermediates and beginners.

Tennis instruction is excellent. The resort has 3 local pros and brings in a visiting pro from PTR each week. On weekdays there are 2 morning clinics and an afternoon round robin. The local pros give private lessons throughout the day. Four clay courts and four hard courts. Depending on the time of year, there can be a lot of other tennis-focused guests, which is great for setting informal matches. The only small drawback is when there are lots of players, the clinics can get large and the options for in person lessons can get limited, but this is rare. Overall best tennis resort ever.
There are 4 pickleball courts and lessons a few times a week. I’m not as familiar with this aspect of the resort, but it looks decent for picklers as well.

Great pickleball courts – in good shape – 4 in total. Paddles could be in better shape – one used by our group completely fell apart. Need to invest in some new balls. There should be a fan installed under the grass roof of the gazebo by the pickleball courts.
We have played pickleball for years so did not need instruction, but a clinic was held while we were playing and the instructor seemed very competent.
There were LOTS of tennis courts but we are not tennis players.

We visited Couples Swept Away for our 20th anniversary. We both play tennis and pickleball. The tennis instruction is awesome – one hour lesson every day included with your vacation. We participated in the round robin, which happens every weeknight at 5pm and that was really fun! We actually didn’t end up playing any pickleball because there was so much fun tennis happening. The rest of the resort is amazing. Every single person working at Swept Away aims to make your experience top notch. You can tell that’s just part of the culture of the place. We will for sure be back!!
We want to see your racquet sports vacations! When you’re documenting your trip, tag @TennisResortsOnline on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn and use #TROAdventures for a chance to be featured on our page.
