Portofino Island Resort in Pensacola Beach is the most westerly of a necklace of tennis resorts strung along the sugary sand of the Florida Panhandle. Its five towers rise from a narrow 28-acre strip of land between the Gulf of Mexico on the south and Santa Rosa Sound on the north, while to the west lies the long stretch of uninhabited dunes and beach of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. Travel Instructions: By Air: Although there are closer regional airports in Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport(VPS) and Pensacola Regional (PNS), the major gateway to the Panhandle is Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP), roughly 90 minutes’ drive to the east in Panama City. Rental cars are available at all three.
