I love going to Saddlebrook so much that I bought a Condo there several years ago. But I was afraid my last visit was going to be a short one. My arm had started to hurt in the summer and by the fall I couldn’t even open a door with it. My ranking dropped as I lost matches I never would have. Still I signed up for the tennis program. I told the coaches in advance about my problem. I was hoping it was something technical. Otherwise, I might be done.
I was on the court for five minutes when they adjusted my take-back and contact point and all of a sudden the pain went away. There was the occasional pinch when I lapsed back to my old form, but by the end of my ten days I was playing five hours a day and planning my tournament schedule for the next year.

I did two full days of tennis camp at Saddlebrook about a month ago, and I’m thrilled with the results. It definitely improved my game. I’ve returned to the sport this year after a 25 year hiatus. I played a lot in summer and have had sporadic instruction, but the tips that I learned at Saddlebrook have changed my game considerably. Very nice people and good instructors. i liked that I had a different instructor on each day. I learned more from the second one than the first one. Just ask for what you need – they do try to make it all worthwhile.

There is the good and then the ‘needs work”. The good is the tennis. 5 hours a day of excellent and attentive instruction on Hartru( Oleg, The Russian, is a great pro ). Comparable to Bolleteri but less expensive and the same format.
The “needs work” part is the resort which has adequate rooms with comfy beds, feather pillows, but average and boring food. Sadly, there is no other fine dining within 45 minutes other than Bonefish. Go for the intensive tennis and hope that management gets the message.

I recently visited Saddlebrook for 3 days (5 hrs./day)as a tune-up as my team tennis season approaches. The pro’s are great with all level of players. Howard, the tennis program director works hard to keep the small groups of players satisfied. The grounds are amazing ! With several delectable restaurants available on the grounds, I have no need to leave the resort. All of the employees work hard to meet all of your needs. The massages at the spa are exceptional ! I would recommend Saddlebrook for anyone who wants to up their game.

I just finished up five days of instruction at Saddlebrooke and I had another fantastic experience of tennis experience! Both the instructors I had during my stay we’re very good or excellent. My first two days I had Max who is relatively new but a very strong instructor. He has a great temperament and was very pleasant His instruction was very good even though he is very new to the group and somewhat inexperienced. In time, he will be a great instructor!
The last three days I had Olig. Olig is excellent and a real pleasure to have as an instructor. He pushes for results, is persistent and really gives you the sense he cares about helping you improve. I think he is world class and I look forward to returning to Saddlebrooke for additional instruction.
Thanks for helping mare me a better player while having so much fun!!

My son is a nationally ranked junior tennis player and attends Saddlebrook at least 4 times per year. Saddlebrook has a great tennis program that features great on court drilling and great off court fitness. They have a great variety of tennis players of all ages and skill levels. The Coaches are highly educated and have a lot of experience coaching juniors and professionals. We highly recommend Saddlebrook! +

I went to Saddlebrook because I love playing tennis, wanted to better my game, and get away from the cold weather in NYC. I had two great instructors, Kevin and Steve, who were very helpful and patient. I hit a ton of balls and worked on many different aspects of my game. They pointed out my strengths and weaknesses and gave me lots of thing to work on when I got back home. I was thankful for the jacuzzi in the spa and had a great massage from Debbie. The delicious steak dinner topped off a great first day at camp. The only downside to the resort is that is it so spread out it takes awhile to walk to everything – I think they should have communal bikes to ride around the resort to get from one place to another!

The best adult tennis camp there is – I have made 3 visits to Saddlebrook over the past few years and each one was fantastic! The primary reason for this is the high quality of their exceptional coaches and the attention and focus that they put on this program. This guarantees you a great experience and the opportunity to work hard, learn lots and be challenged which brings your tennis to another level every time!

Saddlebrook is our family’s favorite vacation destination. My wife and I and our two kids (ages 12 and 16) all participate in the full day program (5 hours per day), on separate courts, generally for a few days at a time. We all find the instruction to be excellent, whether or not the pro is someone we have worked with previously, and the tennis staff is invariably friendly and accommodating. The food is good, the suites are comfortable, and the grounds are exceedingly pleasant.

I’ve been to many camps and resorts over the last twenty years. This was by far the best, in instructors, organization, facilities, and accommodations. It wasn’t the plushest, but it didn’t need to be. The instructors were not only great players, they were great teachers. This camps is for serious players at every level. They push you and that is what a serious player wants. I took the five day program. In retrospect, I should have asked not to have them fall consecutively. I wasn’t physically beat, but I was mentally. I could have used a break after day four. Weather was superb the whole time, and I never did have to find out what might have happened if there had been rain, as there are no indoors facilities…..

Just spent a fantastic weekend there with my wife and two sons aged 6 & 9. Now of course I loved the 5 daily hours of tennis, but was amazed at what a great job they did keeping my sons (and wife for that matter) engaged and raring to go for the next session. Totally surpassed my expectations.

  • AB

Tennis, tennis, tennis. 5 hours a day, great conditioning, many drills and games. Instructor to student ratio of 4:1 or 3:1. Excellent attention to each individual. I went for two days, and am looking for options to get back for more. Saddlebrook focuses on all aspects of the game throughout the morning and afternoon sessions. Excellent.

Facilities were very nice and the suite complete and well maintained. We had a beautiful view and the weather was perfect in the first week of December. Dempsey and Dempsey Too food was excellent. A bit pricey…it is a resort, afterall.
The time of year was perfect as we spent our 25th anniversary in a wonderful place. The staff, et . all, made our stay feel most welcome and truly comfortable. We will be planning a return next year.

  • CH

I went for a week in December just after thanks giving. It was amazing arriving from cold London to sunny Tampa. The coaching staff soon worked out what was wrong with me…. and we worked quite hard on those things during the week for 5 hours a day. The playing groups were picked according to ability and that worked well. The other players were really fun and we had a lot of laughs, most of them go every year because they like it so much. It wasn’t until I came home and went back to my club that I realised how much better I was – I will be going again next year!

10 out of 10.Been going for 10 years and the resort and coaching is second to none. The quality of the courts and facilities is excellent. The great thing about the Hopman experience is that it IS hard training BUT HUGE fun at the same time. You come away with new and renewed motivation and zest- we are already looking forward to next year. Howard Moore and head coach Shawn Mc Gee are to be praised for their dedication- if only they were in the UK we would have more enthusiastic players.

I spent a weekend of tennis instruction at Saddlebrook earlier this month and the tennis, the instructors and overall program was terrific. I’m a solid USTA 3.5, working towards 4.0. During the drills and practice I wanted to focus on only one or two aspects for each of my strokes so that I could return home with notable changes to my game. Made a tremendous difference that was immediately noticed with my regular playing partners and in my matches. Highly recommend the program and I intend to return.

  • AB

Saddlebrook Hopman tennis program exceeded our expectations; I came with 3 tennis friends of similar standard. We spent two days being coached by Kevin. The 5 hours each day flew by and we learned a great range of new drills and sharpened our game and tactics. I could have stayed twice as long and we will definitely return. The video analysis was very helpful. The resort itself was great – low-key and informal but very well organized; beautiful location and brilliant massage!

  • KM

The pros on staff are excellent instructors. They have a great ability to see the areas where your strokes need improvement, and can break down and describe the process you need to follow in order to improve your strokes. They also hold you accountable and make sure you are working to improve your game. Additionally, they give you tips to work on when you go home to continue your improvement.
I came to Saddlebrook this year needing major work on my forehand. After 5 days of drills, I have a new-found confidence in that shot. I also came to Saddlebrook with what I thought was a good serve. After the pros finished with me, I now have a new powerful weapon for my matches.
Thank you Saddlebrook for such a wonderful experience!

  • AG

An old friend and I chose Saddlebrook for 2 days of tennis camp to celebrate a milestone birthday. The Hopman program met every high expectation we had. The staff placed us on courts with players of comparable skill, and the two teachers I had were wonderful — immediately perceptive about my (many) stroke flaws, clear in their instruction, engaged, challenging, and supportive.
Our two bedroom condo was great — clean, comfortable, and 30 seconds walk from the courts. Friendly staff at all restaurants and bars, and a great pool for the midday cooling off.
Bottom line is we were there to max out on tennis, and the program, and Saddlebrook facility, hit every mark. Hope to return!

Steve was a great instructor on Day 1, pointing out a lot of things I can do differently to make my game more consistent. Day 2 had two new people in the group and he seemed to take his emphasis away from those of us who weren’t new. Granted, it’s difficult to blend the new folks with the old ones, but both of us in attendance felt we didn’t get nearly as much out of Day 2. I would also encourage Steve NOT to share as much of his personal life with all of us. We were there to work on our game, not to hear about his home town, his medical ailments, or his family. Also, there was little communication between the resort and the tennis program as to where/when the program would begin. If you book this resort, ask questions before you get there, as the Front Desk won’t know the answers.

My daughter and I visited Saddlebrook by recommendation . We have returned several times since and my daughter as a camper. The tennis instruction and fitness program has brought her game to a new level. She anticipates returning as a camper for a longer duration next year . The adult program is challenging. The pros are patient , friendly, rigorous, and very encouraging. There’s always a mental piece that leaves me thinking and waiting to return. You may want to make sure to buff up on fitness before going to help with stamina.
The Spa has great services to relieve sore muscles and sells great products . It’s a.ways fun to buy something new there.
The food is good but limited. It would be nice to have a more diverse menu selection. There are kitchens in the rooms and restaurants off premise . As for me, I do not want to cook or drive anywhere, so I would really appreciate more diversity when staying more than a few days.
Saddlebrook has become one our favorite places to visit and we anticipate many more visits .

I spent five days at the Harry Hopman tennis program at the Saddlebrook Resort in June of 2013 and highly recommend the program. I will be returning soon.
I am a decent player — USTA 4.5 — and I try to play a couple of days a week if possible. I was looking to boost my game this summer and decided to go to a camp for an intensive period of time. I did some research, including reviewing the Tennis Resorts Online rankings, and chose Saddlebrook-Hopman because I liked the blend of focus on physical and technical aspects of the game and the amount of time they provided on the court each day — five hours of more if you wanted it.
I was very pleased with the program in a number of ways — it clearly exceeded my expectations. Just getting ready to attend the camp — and play five hours a day in Orlando’s heat and humidity — incentivized me to work on my fitness prior to heading down there. So, it had an effect even before I arrived. Second, I was very pleased with the structure and organization of the program.
Players came and went over the five days, but I was always in a small group of three to four students with one instructor. And the staff does a great job of moving people around in groups to make sure that each group is at about the same level. I hit with very good adult players and some juniors who were down for the Saddlebrook Academy and wanted a bit more work.
Third, in addition to the group instruction, I took individual lessons for one hour on four of five the days. One of the senior pros there — Shawn McGee — is phenomenal. I am in my mid-50’s, have played tennis for more than 40 years and have had numerous lessons over the years. But Shawn showed me some very basic and subtle points / changes (mostly on footwork and my serve) that really, really helped my game. And while I did not work directly with Howard Moore, the Director of the Hopman Center, he showed me a nice grip trick near the end my stay and that has greatly helped my forehand. The other pros who ran our sessions — Sandy, Tai and Jitka — were very good, very professional and put a lot of energy into what they do.
I achieved exactly what I wanted at Hopman and more. I hit a ton of balls, gained increased confidence in my groundstrokes and serve, and learned a few subtle things that have greatly improved my game. And after five days in the Orlanda heat and humidity, I came back feeling much fitter.
The only disappointing part of the five days is that June is thunderstorm season in Orlando and a couple of afternoons were washed out. But they have a rain check poicy.
It was truly a great five days and I want to get back down there sometime soon.

Great intensity, instruction, courts. Paired well. Not a single complaint!

I visited Saddlebrook in June of this year and I liked everything except the afternoon rainstorms. Alice in the office was very helpful in getting my reservation squared away. As I walked a short distance to the tennis courts, Howard drove by in a cart and shouted hello. At court number ten it was hot and humid but all of the adult tennis players were friendly and so were the coaches. The warm-up was thorough and the morning session was intense in a good way. The coaches can give you as much of a competitive workout as you can handle and they are good at recognizing personal limits. With four players and one or two instructors the pace was brisk with only brief stops to pick up balls and stay hydrated. I drank three gatorades, two bottles of water, ate two bananas and one orange and went through three t-shirts in just the morning session alone.
A quick video analysis via I Pad was included while the other players did two on one drills. The practice balls were lively and the clay courts were easier on the body than hard courts. The valet parkers, the bartender, the pro shop girl, everyone I met was welcoming and good at their job. I hope to bring our tennis team here next go round. Highly recommend the camp.

I just got back from a wonderful week at Saddlebrook. From the moment I got there, I was surrounded by kind people who were genuinely concerned with what I had to say. Howard Moore, the director of tennis, was particularly lovely. He immediately sat down with me and spoke to me, 1 on 1, on what and how I was going to improve on in my game. Each day he would sit down and ask me how the day had went, and if I was eating a meal myself he would kindly join me. The rooms at the resort were very, very nice, and I was paired with kids who’s personalities were compatible to mine, and whom I have become good friends with. Additionaly, the food was outstanding. The breakfast buffet is unparalleled in my opinion, as the chef could and would make anything you could ever ask for. Finally, the tennis. The head pro, Rick Wilde split the group of around 40 into 3 smaller groups based on skill level on the first day. In these smaller groups, we had long sessions focusing on match play, fitness, and honing in on specific parts of our games that we had trouble with. In conclusion, Saddlebrook was a wonderful place to go, I will be going back soon, and perhaps the person that made it so great was Howard Moore.

Staff, facility are all top notch. Howard, who heads the tennis camp, is amazing; dynamic, super friendly and approachable, personable, always has a ton of energy and incredibly warm and welcoming. I’ve always been very happy with the instructors. Facility is fantastic; great swimming pool, surprisingly kid friendly (for our toddler); food is amazing. Came here once/twice a year from NY; moved to the westcoast and came again. Love this place. Shawn, who heads the adult tennis camp, is an excellent instructor; willing to go the extra mile to help someone’s strokes.
Weaknesses? I wish they would bring back the video instruction (where someone video-records your strokes). Small detail, hard to find a significant weakness.

  • RH

Very good option for both a resort and a tennis camp together. Several options available for class instruction and individual lessons. Even in classes, you get individual attention. Lodging and dining options are also very good

I recently returned from I my third vacation at Saddlebrook. Since my first experience two years ago, I’ve been enormously impressed with the Hopman Tennis adult program. Howard Moore, the director of the Hopman program is unrivaled in his energy, instructional insight, and enthusisam for the game. His work ethic, intensity, and love for the game clearly transcend the entire tennis staff. The pros are quick to determine aspects of my game that need attention and give personal attention and professional advice throughout the a.m. session of conditioning, drills and instruction and in the pm session of competitive play simulation formats. I attended this last session with my 16-year old son who felt the program was both fun and extremely helpful. As anyone with a teenage child knows, comments like these are infrequent. I have never left Saddlebrook with anything less than very high satisfaction. As an individual with access to many avenues of high-quality tennis instruction, I recommend Saddlebrook without reservation. It is a superior tennis experience.

Returned to my favorite camp last weekend, and again Howard and his team did an excellent job. Worked with 5 different pros in three days, had an “accidental private” for two hours one afternoon which really helped. This is an intense camp and they will work you hard, but you’ll get as much out of it as you put in!

  • JW

The tennis instruction was personal, motivating, fun and top notch. All the instructors were excellent and we were each given personal attention.

  • CB

Tennis lessons were very exceptional. Tennis staff was very professional and caring.

  • KH

We had a group of 14 people down from Canada this past weekend. It was just fantastic. Howard Moore the director lead everyone through warm ups and demonstrations etc. The hotel, instructions, food and resort are 1st class. We’ll be back again!

  • EA

Unfortunately the weather was cold and damp for November which made the outdoor tennis not as much fun; other than the weather the place was great and the coaching was excellent. I signed up for the full day program and ended up getting with a private coach ever afternoon when the half day players went home.

  • GP

Just returned from saddlebrook – my 20th year on the trot of taking students from schools in England to this world class tennis resort. The place feels like my second home and the students, parents, and teachers who all go to the resort all want to return. Excellent coaching, facilities and above all, weather. My school also sent some students to Barcelona to the CTR academy at the same time. They had 6 days in Spain, 4 of which it rained, were cold and miserable. At Saddlebrook at Easter, the sun always shines, the tennis coaching is superb and everyone has a great time!

  • MG

    A great experience, friendly staff

  • JS

Excellent pros. You can get great instruction and fitness for your kids and at the same time they can have fun later in the day at Busch Gardens and beaches. In short, play hard, get better, and then have some fun.

  • SK

This is my second year attending adult tennis camp at Saddlebrook and it was excellent. I spoke with many of the other adults and they were all equally satisfied with their teachers. The five hours per day just fly by. Everyone notices my improvements when I return back home to play. And, my video analysis improves yearly as well. I love Saddlebrook and can hardly wait to return!!

  • JY

Just returned from a great tennis vacation with my family! Wow! My husband is a good player, I play recreationally and my kids are just beginning. Howard and his staff balanced our family needs so wonderfully that we all were sad to stop playing each day. It was amazing to play near (but not next to) these great, international in-house juniors and to have fun, knowledgeable pros do these drills for anywhere from 2-5 hours. The pros (and Howard himself) went our of their way to make sure we all got everything out of the program to improve our game and have fun!. My husband felt very challenged with his level. Tough for a tennis program to balance so many needs but these guys did it with ease. We will return year after year!

  • JC

Absolutely First Class!! My wife and attended for one week. PROs were just ‘the best’!! Hard-charging and demanding that you ‘do it right’. No standing around!! Fast pace, best use of time and don’t expect “country club feeds” if you want to improve your game you are going to do the work!! The PROs cover all aspects of the game from Morning Stretch to every shot on the court. No more than 4 players on the court with 1 PRO. Individual attention on every shot. PROs were THE best- Vlad, Oleg,Tai, Darren and Mark!!

  • BK

This was an amazing week. I am an avid Tennis player, and I played competitive in College. At 40, with my 16 y.o. son, I was looking for an intense Tennis experience for both of us. Howard and his Pros broke down our games, and rebuilt them in a few days with modern tips. All day tennis, great instruction, and we left with great renewed confidence in our new powerful games. In addition, a beautiful, relaxing resort environment. If you want to play tennis all day, walk away with an improved game, and feel like you had an intense tennis workout, Saddlebrook/Hopman is well worth the money. Can’t wait to go Back!!

  • DM

This was my fourth year at Saddlebrook and definitely the best! The tennis was intensive, the instructor was terrific yet friendly, and the setting was gorgeous. After 5 hours of tennis, we walked (slowly) around the campus and enjoyed watching the wildlife and the beautiful plantings before going to an elegant dinner.

  • CW

I participated in 3 action-packed days of fun tennis drills and instruction. Vlad was an excellent coach and was able to pinpoint exactly what I needed to do to improve all aspects of my game. Great atmosphere, very encouraging, friendly staff, committed participants. I left exhausted (in a positive way!) and with lots of good tips for becoming a better tennis player.

  • SW

This was my sixth visit to Saddlebrook and similar to my prior experiences I found the tennis and instruction extremely helpful and a boatload of fun. The Saddlebrook team has fine tuned its program to be a well run tennis facility where each camper, young or old feels like a valued member. Each day was a grueling 5 hours, but somehow the first three hours were so intense and information packed that we were in awe each day when Vlad our instructor, would tell us we were 15 minutes from the end of the morning session.
The afternoon was filled with point play to put into practice the highlighted morning stroke instruction, and seemed to speed by with just as fast a pace as the morning. After 5 days, my mind and body were in tennis overdrive. Howard, Sean, and Vlad have made me a lifelong believer that Saddlebrook is the place to go for improving your tennis game and getting ready for the tennis season! I can’t wait to return next year.

  • MF

Having visited SaddleBrook three times now, my family and I continue to be impressed. The approach of the tennis professionals is unparalleled and as I have watched them break down the strokes of any of my three competitive tennis playing children, i can’t believe we had used to consider the aggressive ball feeding competition as good tennis. Howard and his staff know tennis, they know what it takes to succeed for both juniors and their club playing parents. I will be back as soon as time allows!

  • KK

This was my 9th visit to Saddlebrook which I always like. It’s like an oasis. The pros are excellent, the courts are in good shape, and try and find my way there any time I’m in Florida. I’ve only ever done tennis and never stayed on site but find it to be superb.

  • MM

We all did the clinics and I thought the instruction was great and it was a fun atmosphere.

  • BP

absolutely the best tennis destination. able to handle all tennis levels and keep it fun on the court.

  • JC

I just returned from a week at Saddlebrook. It was my third trip there and I am enjoying it more each time I go. It has that wonderful balance of a top notch, relaxing vacation with full tennis immersion and active days on court.
I am a beginner and always feel a little unsure/anxious the first time I step on court. My instructor, Michael, was the perfect fit for me. He was incredibly supportive and enthusiastic all while helping me take my skills to a new level. I now have a serve. Thanks Michael! I love your energy! Can’t wait for my next trip…

  • JW

Recently I attended a 2 day session at Saddlebrook Resort. I have average tennis skills and went there with my son who is a better player. We had Michael for our instructor for all sessions on both days. My age is 57. I run and exercise on a regular basis and consider myself to be in very good physical shape. I can honestly say that this was one of the best experiences of my adult life. This camp tested my stamina to the extreme. I highly recommend this for people looking to get a strenuous workout, greatly advance their tennis skills, and get to know friendly people who will get every ounce of effort out of you. Make sure you are ready by preparing yourself physically for this draining but extremely rewarding experience that you will never forget.

  • SS

I’ve been coming to Saddlebrook for its outstanding Hopman Tennis program since 1991. It is hands-down the best tennis facility in the country, with >50 courts (HarTru, all-weather, grass and clay) and tennis programs for all ages. If you don’t want to join a week-long tennis camp, you can choose to hit individually (as I do) with one of their experienced pros to help fine-tune your game and polish your strokes. Run by Howard Moore since 1986, the Hopman program has a seasoned manager and a stable of competent teaching professionals. You’ll love it.
