I loved the 3 day clinic. Not only did they correct fundamentals, they made sure you transferred new skills into your game. I just played in my normal 4-some this morning and the other 3 guys commented how consistent my shots were.

Four of us traveled from Connecticut to Saddlebrook for a tennis tuneup early in April of this year and to get our bones back to room temperature after an exceptionally cold winter. We stayed for three nights and were on the courts for 13 hours over 2 1/2 days. It was tennis paradise. The weather was perfect and the coaching staff could not have been better. All of us felt that our games improved markedly after the drills and video coaching. We relaxed at the spa and pool after the drills and doubles play. And we took advantage of the great restaurants in the Tampa area in the evening. We look forward to booking our return trip for 2015.

If you’re looking for a scenic resort with everything you could possibly need within walking distance, food, pool, spa, tennis, golf, and more, with a rigorous tennis program, Saddlebrook is the place for you. The only weakness about Saddlebrook is yourself. If you aren’t interested in pushing your game to the next level with the help of the fantastic instructors and staff that is engaged in making you a better player, Saddlebrook wouldn’t be the right fit for you. Saddlebrook is all you could ever want in a tennis academy, resort, and school. With a director as interested and involved like Howard Moore is, it gives you even more of an incentive to want to work and strive to become a better, more well-rounded tennis player.

Saddlebrook has the best instructors and best method for helping you improve your game. While fitness is emphasized, technique on how to improve your game is emphasized even more. It is the best place to improve your game. They helped me go from a low 4.0 tennis player to winning 4.5 tournaments.

My friend and I attended the Saddlebrook adult camp for 2 days (a Saturday and Sunday) and this was my 2nd experience at Saddlebrook. I really enjoyed and got a lot out of the instruction, especially my needed backhand improvement, and the Saddlebrook campus and spa were fantastic. It was 2 great days, even beyond the great tennis experience. I will be returning again with a different friend unbelievably in just 2 months to obtain more improvement in my tennis game. Thanks so much, Saddlebrook. This was a really great time. 4.0 experienced player.

We had an amazing experience at the Saddlebrook adult tennis camp, for which we purchased 2 days (Saturday and Sunday), and this was a return visit for my friend. The price was actually excellent, and there were several players during both days at or above our level of 4.0. The instruction was excellent, and has immediatley improved my game. 2 days was surprisingly enough time to solidify some aspects of my game noticeably. After the 5-hour camp each day, relaxation at the pool was great. I will be coming back for sure as soon as possible. Highly recommended for an experienced tennis player and adult camp attendee at several top camps. This was the best for me thus far.

As a group of eight ladies from a 3.0 USTA team from Greenwich, CT – we had high expectations from our long weekend here. Unfortunately, our first full day of tennis fell far below our hopes and standards expected from a world-class, expensive tennis resort – with both of the pros allocated to our group showing a distinct lack of interest in teaching us, and actually seemed more keen on improving their own game (although we later found out that was his last day – but hardly an excuse !!) Then, Howard stepped in and turned it all around. He listened to our complaints and concerns and the next day, we had the best tennis pro we could have ever wished for !! Step up Larry !!! He was fun, informative, thorough, polite and above-all, seemed interested in helping us improve ! Which I hope we all did. Larry saved the day – and Howard – who sorted it all out !!

  • LY

Wonderful tennis program – love the five hours a day in small groups and very attentive pros who really listen to what you want to work on. The best!

Great tennis, pool area and beautiful surroundings. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure you have a great time.

Tennis experience is solid,I have been here 4years in a roll. The tennis director Howard ensures he and his staff meet your needs/requirements to their best ability. I had an incident where a pro at a neighboring court made an inappropriate remark, Howard handled my unpleasant experience swiftly with both disciplinary action to offender and compensation to me. Pro Larry along with few other pros and guests also make sure I was okay and expressed their displease of the inappropriate comment of the suspended Pro. What you can count on with Saddlebrook tennis are good tennis, good instruction, great staff (except one which was disciplined), great tennis guests who are friendly and love tennis, and a lot of sun. As for lodging, their front desk and back office need hospitality training and understand the importance of “Voice of the customer”. The front desk and back office are clueless. We are three traveler booked a three-bedroom suite where you would think your guests care more about the comfort and experience versus the cost. Apparently they didn’t because they assigned us on top of the service maintenance area which not only house the complex laundry machines, the garbage, vacuums, and all the soiled towels and linens. Let me put it this way, you have walk right next to all these chore items (something that we left at home for our vacation escape 🙁 so you can get to the stairs to the suite they assigned us originally. The front desk found it odd that we found our suite arrangement unacceptable, after all, they said it is not an issue to others,,, how I wish that I can post the photos on these site. The bell captain on the other hand is extremely customer focus. The valet while transporting our belongings dropped and broke our packages. The bell captain immediately notified his superior and arranged to have our goods replace. Accident happens, it is the follow up/ next step actions where I judge the quality of performance. In this situation will bell hop, a potential negative experience was turned to a positive one. Again, cannot say the same to front desk and back office, of their take it or leave it attitude. The food choices are good but I only used the poolside cafe where both food and services are excellent. Winnie, our server for many days is a gem to any establishment. She is professional and exhibits her knowledge to the importance of customer service. You can expect a welcome smile from Winnie each time you visit pool side cafe, most of all, your needs are met. Lol, maybe Winnie, bell captain (didn’t catch his name), tennis director Howard, and pro Larry can teach the front desk of what hospitality means. Tennis fans, with all that I shared of Saddlebrook, please know that I will still come back because of Howard & Larry of Hopman tennis and Winnie of poolside cafe.

The tennis pros are fantastic – from the head and senior pros to the ones getting ready for the Frutures tour – their ability to drill and instruct is fantastic! The video instruction is phenomenal! They break it down expertly and can give great pointers to take back home and work on. Last year I thought it really good. This year was the best tennis instruction I’ve ever received. Truly a great time!

I have just returned from Saddlebrook for my 20th year in a row. I first took students from Eton College, near Windsor in the UK back in 1994. Since then, I have returned every year and subsequently I take students from Cothill Prep School, near Oxford, who have also been for the past 6 years or so. This year there were about 50 in our party, including boys and girls (aged from 8 – 15) and teachers, parents and other siblings. Howard Moore and his team have been welcoming us to the resort for all 20 years, and every year we are made to feel as special as the first time we visited. The facilities are amazing (both for tennis and golf), the coaches excellent, the trips off campus arranged for us (to Busch Gardens, International Mall, go-karting, Outlet mall shopping etc) as well as the knowledge that it is a secure campus, where every whim is catered for has made this trip a no-brainer for me. Why wouldn’t I want to go back? If I am prepared to go back, year on year, doesn’t that speak volumes for the place?

Last year I decided to take my first vacation of eighteen years with just my girlfriends , leaving my three children and husband at home. Saddlebrook seemed to meet all our criteria for a group vacation spot and it was a mere three hours plane ride from New York.
Being an avid tennis player, a bit of a work out fiend and lover of the spa experience, I was very eager to return back to this terrific destination located in Tampa Florida where the sun is always shining and the people are welcoming.
Unfortunately this year we were a bit disappointed to discover that the room accommodations were not quite as clean as they could be and although our reservation was booked well in advance , and our spa services reserved as we’ll, we were conveniently re arranged to better accommodate a large group who required v.i.p status. Although our room was satisfactory, we were forced to a more remote area of the hotel less conducive to tennis courts . The rooms are not as clean as they could be , and light bulbs need changing, doors need fixing and telephones are broken( all of which had to be brought to the attention of the management).
On the other hand, the Hopman tennis school is the primary reason why we chose the resort in the first place and continues not to disappoint. It is wonderful to be greeted by a warm and caring pro staff that truly takes aim at helping to raise your awareness of the game and what areas you need to work on to improve your play. It is a great experience to play tennis with players who flock here from all areas of Canada, the mid west the south and the north. Each day of tennis is fulnfilled and challenging, and I always leave with a greater awareness of things that I can work on that will make me a better player. All in all the tennis program , if you are a tennis lover, is what will keep me returning to the resort in the future.
The overall spa experience is quite pleasant. Once we got beyond some glitches in our scheduliing, we thoroughly enjoyed the services that we experienced. The technicians were all excellent and the spa was very clean and professionally run.
It is our hope that we will be compensated in some way for the inconveniences that we experienced on our stay here this year. It is unfortunate that a few bad choices on the part of the management can have such a negative affect on the whole hotel experience. With recognition these can be corrected and saddlebrook will not disappoint in any shape or form.
A few years ago, my husband stayed at the resort and played golf. He had a wonderful time and said the courses were well maintained and challenging . Therefore, wether you love tennis or golf this resort is a fine choice.

My son and I went to Saddlebrook for April vacation and we are so impressed with everything. Beginning with Howard Moore, who is so gracious and attentive to every little detail! He made us feel so welcome and I must say it was a highlight of our trip. He found out I was a vegan and had special meals made from the head chef at Dempseys. The tennis pros are so knowledgable and professional, giving an intensive workout as well as instruction. The organization and professionalism of the tennis staff is very impressive .i can list no weaknesses and will be returning as often and as soon as possible!

  • JM

We have been to Saddlebrook resort for many years with our ladies group, and they love it!! The instruction is top notch, the pro’s are all so friendly, and the goal of each session is improvement for all players! Florida sun, amazing facility, great pro’s, and alot of fun! A must visit resort, you will leave very happy!

  • SV

My wife and I enjoyed the excellent, gruelling, and useful clinics run by the pros at Saddlebrrok. John and young Oleg more than excelled with their knowledge, patience and teaching skills on the court. Larry started the day with his warm-ups and did a great job with video analysis. Shawn was very kind and attentive to the overall needs of the folks in the tennis clinics. Highly recommend this great program for all active tennis players. The resort itself is also terrific with its varied Florida plantation, beautiful golf courses and good food. The resort staff was very friendly and helpful as well. All in all, a great tennis getaway.

  • HT

Howard Moore is an exceptional Program Director. Nothing is too much trouble for him. They really do go the extra mile to ensure that you get the tennis experiece that you want out of your vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would reccomend this strongly to anybody whether they are just looking for some straight forward exercise or whether they are a Sampras in the making. We have both in our family and both extremes were catered for superbly.

  • JP

Just came back from a three and a half day tennis camp. Great experience. Had been to Bradenton IMG before and enjoyed the both. Lodging and food is way superior at Saddlebrook. I will definitely return.

  • JS

I am just completing my 24th year in a row at Saddlebrook. I go for the tennis, along with the resort’s other amenities. After completing a three day clinic with Steve Getchell, one of the pros, I can honestly say I have never in my life had a more positive tennis instruction experience. I learned more from this guy in 3 days than I’ve learned from anyone in my many years of taking tennis lessons. He’s clear, concise, insightful, and funny. Howard Moore runs a class act with the tennis program and the facility is just wonderful.

  • CH

We spent 2 awesome days with Larry working on strokes, techniques and strategy, and a half day with Steve primarily on doubles strategy. Both were fantastic instructors. Larry is a teacher at heart and was easily able to explain concepts in multiple ways until we ‘got it’! Both were very energetic and positive, and didn’t hesitate to stop and work with us on our specific needs. We were 2.5- 3.0 level, and would highly recommend Saddlebrook tennis instruction to any level!

  • JC

For over 15 years, I have been attending the Adult Tennis Program at Saddlebrook Resort. What makes Saddlebrook a special place is that you see the same faces every year, Howard, Sean, Tye, Larry, John, etc. The matching of player levels on each court makes for a competitive learning experience while each coach provides insight into your game. At any time (especially after a brutally long winter), this is a great place to sharpen your game for the outdoor tennis season. After playing consecutive days of tennis, I booked a massage at the spa, which was incredible. I would recommend Saddlebrook to any level player.

  • GJ

For the past 17 years I have been attending Saddlebrook resort. I visit each April for my “Spring Training” get back to tennis weekend. Howard and the ang are first rate and playing on grass is always special.

  • CE

We visited Saddlebrook in Florida for the Spring break and me and my son stayed there for 9 complete days and got exactly what we wanted to derive from the trip. My 10 year old son really enjoyed every bit of his stay and the tennis outings.

  • EP

Howard Moore tennis director is the best. I played adult program while my son played Junior program which is amazing. Alvaro and Stephanie taught him. They were incredible. Can’t say enough positive about the tennis. And the resort is much better than Bollitieri (IMG). Better spa, dining, better scenery. Only thing they could upgrade is front desk and valet. But as a tennis resort it is the best!!

  • HS

I stayed at Saddlebrook for the third consecutive year and it was, as always, a great experience. The coaching, ability to play five hours a day, fitness sessions, and food were all amazing. I had a great pro, Chris Trizzino, for my stay and he really helped me work on my game. Saddlebrook is definitely the go-to place for training for very competitive tennis!

  • MA

This was our 4th visit to Saddlebrook as a family. We have been to other Florida camps and this is by far the best. This is due to its setting, the personal touch, the level of tennis instruction, the junior programme and the topnotch staff. Howard Moore goes out of his way to ensure you enjoy the full experience. Fabulous attention to detail. My son was recovering from a serious injury and the junior instructors reconstructed his game with care and attention. He has regained confidence and self esteem. My daughter definitely took her game to a higher level in the 10 days we were there. I truly enjoy the adult program from all aspects. The people from around the world you meet, the super positive instruction, the excellent condition the courts are in and the staff willingness to accommodate your every need. We had 2 friends who are Florida natives show up unannounced one morning and although the adult programme was full Howard fit them into the mix and even gave them a free lesson. We will be attending Saddlebrook for years to come. Paula and Marshall Abbott Calgary Canada

After a long, frigid winter in Upstate NY, I decided I needed a treat and a tennis tune-up, so I booked 3 days at Saddlebrook. I was worried about them having other 4.5 women to form a good group, but there were 4 of us at the same level. Our instructor Tai was very good and worked us hard and gave each of us a lot of tips and as much individual instruction as he could. It was an excellent three days. After tennis, I would vegetate by the pool then have dinner at their restaurant which I thought was very good. Better than the last time I was there. A very positive experience overall.

  • MR

Brought my tennis team down for spring break, and the program is fantastic! My players got great on-court instruction and competition mornings and afternoons; they were very well-matched and got a lot out of it. The fitness component was superb. There was a lot of variety, so they never got bored. The kids worked very hard but had a ton of fun too. They loved it!
While the kids were on court, I played in clinics, some of which were the best in all the many years I’ve played tennis. The tennis staff – and resort staff – were incredibly accommodating of both players and coaches. Also brought a couple kids from the golf team who had a fantastic experience as well in the golf academy. Will definitely be returning!

Our son attended a one week junior camp in July 2013. He enjoyed it so much, he’s going back this summer. While he attended the camp, my wife and I stayed in an excecptional one bedroom suite. We attended daily drills and played pickup matches with other guests. I have nothing but great things to say about the resort and tennis program. If you have any questions about the tennis program, contact Mr Howard Moore, he sold my family on the tennis program and resort, and it was all true.

  • JK

The Hopman Tennis Program for Adults is perfect for the 3-5 times a week player. I may be in my late 50’s, and the sun and humidity can be a beast to a Minnesotan, but the play was great. Have a fantastic pro on the court (KEVIN) and could not ask for better instruction, drills or even patience. He was awesome. The only negative to the program was not part of the program, but the Saddlebrook front desk. They really need to get it together and listen to the customer! Thanks

  • KD

Excellent instruction. Well run operation. Very motivating and friendly pros.

  • WK

A great spot to spend a long weekend (or a week if you have the time) working on your tennis game. The pros are very helpful and knowledgeable, and you will get a serious workout! Howard and his staff are very helpful, too. You can work out up to 6 hours a day on the court, so you will be tired at the end of your stay! I highly recommend this resort. Guaranteed to improve your game and your fitness level.

  • NJ

I love this tennis program! This is my second year and again I learn something new every time. My pro was Jeff Lewis and he was excellent and would recommend the Hopman program! Make sure you do the 5 hour program! It’s broken up with 3 hours in the morning, 2 hour break and followed by another 2 hours! Just loved every minute!

  • SA

I have just re visited Saddlebrook and took part in their Hopman Tennis Clinic I have to say, as ever the coaching , facilities and all the staff are 1st Class. I have been coming here from the UK for several years now on and off and it never disappoints. I never write reviews on anything but feel anyone even considering a tennis break or holiday should come here. I have had coaching at Melbourne Park, Midtown Tennis NYC , La Manga and various UK places and they don’t come close!

  • JE

My son and I have just come back from an amazing tennis holiday at Saddlebrook. I cannot stress enough what a wonderful place this is, and how comfortable we felt during our stay. We had six full days of tennis, which was rigorous but fun, and came back wishing we had one more day. The coaches are definitely key to this programme’s success factor, with Howard Moore heading a team of creative, fun and very perceptive coaches . They will tell you exactly where you went wrong and what do to to get your shot right. They don’t miss a trick (Larry)! More important than that, is that I had a load of fun while improving my game. I would definitely go again, and would recommend it to anyone looking to improve their tennis with great coaches and in the company of interesting players who share a passion for the game. Everyone we met there, players and coaches, was great. A five star camp. J&L, Dubai

Fantastic tennis resort. I could not wish anything better. The tennis instruction is top notch, very demanding but also very rewarding. My skills have improved a lot in a week. The resort is wonderful: natural settings with beautiful wildlife, a great swimming pool, golf. The rooms are very comfortable. Came with young kids and they loved their vacation as well. The staff is very friendly and always accommodating. Would come back in a heartbeat.

  • RB

Great tennis atmosphere and facility. Perfect for a combined tennis and relaxation holiday. I usually do tennis in the morning and relax at the large, very nice pool in the afternoon.

  • MB

Another fabulous week at Saddlebrook – 4th in the last 12 months. The energy and enthusiasm of the tennis staff insures that all participants leave after their stay with an even better game. How these pros have the ability to see each and every flaw and provide thee tools to tweak/correct is quite impressive. The drills and play are tailored to the skill set of each court and the managing staff does an excellent job to insure that all players on each court are at similar ability levels and adjustments are made as necessary.
It is great to see so many familiar faces each visit to Saddlebrook which speaks volumes to the quality of the program with such a high return guest rate. Not only will you find compatable tennis partners, but the atmosphere is highly friendly and social and you will leave not only with improved tennis skills but new friends.
    Already planning the next visit!!

  • NO

Great visit over past four days. Will, my pro, rebuilt my forehand and now can’t wait to put it into action.

  • GW

Just had to write you a brief note about our adult tennis experience this past weekend: FUN, INSIGHTFUL, INTENSE, ENGAGING, RELEVANT, RELAXING… DID I SAY FUN? !! It really was the best tennis experience we’ve had!
The staff is simply incredible. Everyone was so helpful and engaged in the entire process. Will’s enthusiasm was so infectious it made the three days a total blast and we are still buzzing. Our take away: we are now WILL-LEVEL tennis players. 🙂
PS: The food rocked too. Tell the chef we came for the tennis… we’ll come back for the food!

  • BB

After a ten year experience visiting various tennis camps and many, many visits to Saddlebrook, my husband and I have dropped the other camps from contention and continue to visit Saddlebrook several times a year. The tennis program is intensive and highly personalized with staff who really care about getting to know you and making you comfortable. Accommodations are delightful, grounds are gorgeous, pool and spa a fabulous treat for sore muscles after a long day. The food on site is fresh, healthy and excellent. Howard Moore does a spectacular job of running the program and instructors are particularly excellent. Perhaps best of all are the people who you find on the court with you. They are always interesting and engaging leading to many fascinating conversations over post-tennis wine and dinner. Just the best.

What an experience. From the first morning stretches with Larry to the last day “Play the Pro”, I felt that I received a great deal of attention and my needs for the improvement of my forehand, backhand, net play, and serve were all addressed and strengthened. The four to one ratio of student to pro coach really helped ensure that I received enough focus. I had two great coaches, Steve P. and Will over the four days I was there. I was also provided a video of my play so I could see where I needed support to tweak my foot work and hand positions. The accommodations were set among their golf courses, with ponds, a wildlife sanctuary filled with egrets, herons, and alligators. The food was exceptionally delicious. I highly recommend this camp for tennis if you are looking for focused attention to support the improvement of your tennis game. I feel that I will be able to bring my new skills back to my local group. I look forward to going back to Saddlebrook in the future. Thanks.

  • DG

What an amazing weekend. Great clinics, great pros, beautiful resort, kind, wonderful, helpful people. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect, and all the folks participating were so friendly. This was my first time, but definitely not my last. Thank you everyone at Saddlebrook…especially Howard. You and your staff made a lasting impression.

  • HM

The Hopman program was really great at the Saddlebrook resort. Came down from Boston during February break and Larry our pro really improved our game. My wife, adult son and myself learned a ton. We played for 3 days and are looking forward to going back.

  • SM

We had a terrific pro — Tai — who was perfect for a 4.0 level group.

  • WS

My friend and I had an exceptional experience at Saddlebrook this year, our 5th time there. Our pro, Tai, was the best pro we have worked with. Tai’s teaching skills, range of drills, patience, enthusiasm and warm personality were a perfect fit for our group. We also found Howard, the manager of the tennis program, to be very customer focused and attentive to player needs. It is evident that both Howard and Tai love what they do and this makes the customer experience all the more rewarding.

  • SK

I was stunned at the quality of coaching each day I spent at Saddlebrook. I am (was??) a 3.5 player who started with the old methods of stepping into the ball and was struggling to break these bad habits. I worked with three different coaches over the week I was there (three days of five hours, three days of short lessons and hitting) and now feel like a totally new player. Top spin has become my natural shot without thinking and I can hit with much greater pace while placing the ball. I can hardly wait for spring tournaments and leagues to start so I can put it to the test against the 4.0 players. After this week, I’m confident I can move up!

  • ML

I recently attended the Saddlebrook Tennis program (four days) and want to express how impressed I was with their adult tennis program, especially given that I had also attended a ‘competitor’s’ adult program (three days) in the same regional area during that week.
The personal instruction and attentivenes to each individual’s needs was far and away much better at Saddlebrook. Saddlebrook also doesn’t see themselves as the inventor or ‘godfather’ of tennis training, as the other camp envisions itself. The pros at Saddlebrook were all very knowledgable and the video training was also very helpful by comparison to the other camp as the strokes and images were reviewed in real time and not simply emailed for later viewing by the student.
All in all, the experience I had at Saddlebrook was exceptional and I would highly recommend Saddlebrook over any of the other comparable adult tennis programs.

  • BS

I could not recommend Howard Moore and the Saddlebrook program with more enthusiasm. Especially if your goal is to go on a “tennis vacation” there is no comparison. I have been to numerous tennis resorts all over the country such as TopNotch, IMG Academy, Total Tennis and many others and every program have been to does not even come close the great experience I always receive at to Saddlebrook.
You get five hours of instruction a day, along with 5 star dining and a huge pool and spa to relax in and TD Steakhosue with the table side Casear Salad and NY Strip is incredible and among the best restaurants for the quality of the food, ambiance and is a first class meal. The unique thing about the tennis camp every level of player is treated special from a 5.5 to a 2.0 as Sean matches you up with the right group and no one feels pressure. It is a fun atmosphere in how the tennis drills are both lively and tough.
Coming from NYC, one cautionary note is the heat and sun of Florida, but Saddlebrook constantly has fruit and drinks provided on the court which is essential The pros are fantastic: Oleg has great energy and Tai and Verdine and others there have you are training as if you were a pro on the tour with the Hopman method. Howard Moore has been at Saddlebrook for as long as I can recall and is always the first face that everyone sees and does a great job being personal and starts off with the stroke of the day and he seems to try to get to know everyone. I feel Howard and Saddlebrook does the best job out of any other tennis resort for adult training/camp/resort.
As I sit here on my desk at this computer in the morning looking out at the slush and snow of NYC I cant wait to get back and wish I was there now in this weather. Have gone numerous times, but this is my first time writing a review. I wanted everyone to know you cant go wrong at Saddlebrook, especially if you want to get back in shape at a beautiful resort with over 40 courts. Hands down, Saddlebrook is the best tennis resort in the country and is a true tennis lovers oasis!
