There may or may not be an adobe cottage within the walls of the white-columned mansion at the heart of the Silverado Resort.
General John Franklin Miller, who later became a U.S. Senator, built the elegant 14-room home in the 1870s on a site along Napa Valley’s Milliken Creek. Before he could begin construction, however, he faced a dilemma: there was already a Spanish adobe cottage on that spot, and local superstition held that ill fortune would befall whomever destroyed the adobe structure. Taking no chances, Miller is said to have built around it, a possibility that the three-foot-thick walls at the southwestern corner of the mansion seem to support.
Whatever the truth to that legend, the 1,200-acre Miller estate ultimately became the Silverado Resort, welcoming its first guests in 1966 and quickly emerging as a major vacation and conference option in the Napa Valley. It has a full range of amenities, including 36 holes of golf, a spa and fitness center, and a dozen hard courts.

Katie and her team of professionals went above and beyond to curate an exceptional tennis experience for our group. They were friendly, knowledgable, and accommodating. They made the 3 days fun and also provided top notch instruction to each individual. From the beginning to the end, they gave each player personalized attention and provided valuable instruction. Katie, Quinn, and John are the reason our tennis camp was so successful! We hope to be back again to benefit from their professionalism.
Silverado Resort & Spa has an exceptional tennis program led by Katie Dellich. Katie, Quinn and John are not only knowledgeable but extremely fun to engage with. Their high energy and love for the game is intoxicating and brings out the best in all those that participate in their camps, workshops and lessons. If your planning on visiting Napa Valley, Silverado Resort and Spa should be high on your list.
The Best Tennis Instruction I’ve ever experienced.
The Silverado Tennis Pros made their Beginner Boot Camp such a wonderful experience. They’re both fun and educational. They had a welcoming manner and made the whole week great. I’ve also really enjoyed my private sessions with them. They have a true love for the sport and enjoy sharing it with others. I would highly recommend them to all levels of tennis players.
The Golf, Tennis, Swim camp was a huge hit for our son all summer! The instructors were always welcoming and he looked forward to each day. His favorite was tennis and he is asking for a racket to keep it going! Will definitely sign up next year!
Katie, Quinn, and John are the cream of the crop! Silverado is the premier location for tennis from the pros, courts, and setting it can’t be beat. Katie is the ultimate “includer”, always making each person feel welcome. Her unbeatable energy infuses life into every event, clinic, or lesson she provides. Quinn’s enthusiasm for tennis is obvious and coupled with his sincere and kind personality you’ll always enjoy your time with him. John has the tactical knowledge that will level up your tennis game and his strategy sessions are unparalleled. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to learn from these three fantastic pros!
one of the best resorts around and the VERY BEST tennis program I’ve ever seen
We had an absolutely wonderful experience. Katie, Quinn, and Brandon with tennis and golf are consummate professionals. The drop-off and pick-up experience was seamless and programming was fun and engaging. My daughter truly had a memorable experience. We’ll certainly be back.
I initially heard about the camp while visiting the resort several years previously and met Katie and loved her enthusiasm. After staying in communication about the camps I finally made it to one and had so much fun! Not only is Katie awesome but the other pros had so much to offer and helped me improve while making it fun. I’m not the best player but all the campers made me feel welcomed and encouraged me. I would definitely recommend the camp to anyone looking to learn some tennis, have fun and enjoy the beautiful settings of Napa.
The Silverado Resort tennis program is top notch. I take tennis classes weekly as well as join in on clinics and live ball. Every single instructor is amazing. Fantastic teachers, high energy, positive, and overall wonderful to be around. The facilities are lovely but its really the staff the makes this such an incredible experience. If you’re staying at the resort or live nearby and enjoy tennis, I highly recommend trying out a clinic, live ball session, or lesson with this incredible team.
The pros took great care of us, made great recommendations, were very friendly and a lot of fun
I’ve been playing tennis since I was young however it had been years since I had been on an actual tennis court. Katie was the tennis director running the camp and was beyond amazing. She was super attentive, patient and made the entire experience so much fun. Plus I feel like I learned so much from her and the rest of the pros. I would highly recommend Katie if your ever in the area and want the best tennis pro or to join a camp. I just wish I had more time to play. 5 stars
Really fun and energetic programs. Katie, Quinn, and John are exceptional instructors that obviously love what they do. Silverado offers regular multi day tennis camps, daily clinics for different levels, and awesome private instruction. The resort is lively and near some of the Napa Valleys best attractions and wineries. Highly recommend.
Tennis professionals are the best! They are excellently trained to command groups with multiple skill levels and focus in on private instruction. Social round robins are fun and energetic. HIGHLY recommend
Silverado resort is magical place where everyone is very warm and welcoming. The tennis instructors and program are fantastic, they keep everything high energy and fun!
My friends and I had an amazing experience on the courts and off. Any person at any skill level will be treated like a champion here. The atmosphere is a grand slam!
This resort is amazing place to stay in Napa. Our absolute favorite thing we did while we were there was the “Liveball” Tennis Session. Whether your in town for the weekend or a local resident, “Liveball” is the absolute best way you can start your Saturday in Napa. Liveball is an hour and a half of nonstop tennis (with breaks when you need it). On your court of about 6 other players, you play “King of the Court” style competition. Whether you have only been playing for a couple months or years, there is a court for you. During this fun hour and a half, we also got some great coaching from Quinn & John, the Silverado Tennis Pros. Thank you Katie for such an organized, fun tennis session??. My boyfriend and I will absolutely be back again when we are in the area!
Tennis at Silverado is where it’s at! 10/10 would recommend Quinn Saine as a coach. If you’re looking for exercise and fun while staying at Silverado check out the tennis programs. Approachable, fun and challenging!
The staff gave me the best tennis experience I’ve ever had with their high energy, diverse training regimen! It’s something I’ve been looking for all over the country and I’ve found that talent in this group of pros! 100/100 will be returning and recommending to others.
Katie, Quinn and John are the best pros. They listen to what you need/want and deliver.
The tennis professionals at Silverado Resort are AMAZING. My boyfriend and I were given lessons by Katie Dellich and Quinn Saine during our stay. They had such high energy and were extremely encouraging. We are beginners and it was refreshing to get out and play after sheltering in place for months. We highly recommend coming to Silverado Resort and signing up for lessons with Katie and Quinn 🙂
I have played tennis for years and my experience at the PBI World Camp at Silverado this last weekend was incredible. It was well organized and the instructors were so knowledgeable, kind and fun. They pushed me out of my comfort zone to try new things and take more risks at the net. I also got an incredible workout and met wonderful people. If you are wanting a tennis experience that will challenge you, make you grow and allow you to have fun, then playing at Silverado will rock your world. Plus, the resort itself is heaven…pools, food and golf!
I’m a repeat guest at Silverado. I will definitely continue to return, as it is one of my favorite places to be. I’m a huge fan of the health alterations made due to the covid-19 pandemic. There are hand washing stations on the courts ( every club should try this ! ) , as well as fully sanitized equipment if you are in need of a rental. The tennis pros are AMAZING . I have never met a more energetic, fun, and helpful group of people in all of my travels. I would send anyone I love , no matter the skill level, to experience what I experienced at Silverado Resort and Spa 🙂 Definitely my number #1 stop for post- lockdown activities!
Silverado was not doing a good job with communication to guests about reservations needed for main pool. it was fully booked and it was packed, wall to wall people, every chair used and no social distancing. even if they had a reservation, i would have arrived at the pool and walked right out. Also, Silverado grill would not take a lunch reservation for me and I was told it was closed for lunch. so, i made a reservation elsewhere to find out the restaurant was certainly open for lunch as it was father’s day…..boo hooo, i never got a chance to eat the restaurant.
A great place to go for all your vacation needs.
The PBI pros, Katie, Quinn, Ben, and John, were exceptional and fun! We attended the weekend adult tennis camp and it was a blast! Great drills, lots of live ball work, and solid instruction without being overwhelming. The courts were in very good shape, all clinics and drills featured brand new Wilson US Open balls – I can’t believe how some tennis clubs and resorts don’t replace their balls often enough – not an issue here! Exceptional. As for Silverado, this was the 1st weekend camp at Silverado since Covid so there were still plenty of safety restrictions. The fitness center and spa were not open yet, restaurants and bars had limited seating, etc. The resort is really nice but they need to address some basic service issues, understanding that with Covid things can get a bit unusual. For example, there were no housekeeping services during our stay, you had to call and ask. No problem doing that but the front desk should have told us this when we checked in. Second, some of the rooms had coffee makers and others did not. All rooms should have both, make sure you ask. Lastly, there is a $40 daily resort fee that they tack on for things like WiFi, parking, coffee, etc, but other than the WiFi, we did not understand the justification for the fee. Plus, we were not advised about it at the front desk at check in. We didn’t like that and asked them to waive it at checkout which they did. Otherwise, the room we stayed in was very nice, though I wish they could establish an area where families with kids stay, and have a separate area for adults. May not be possible now with limited opening due to Covid, but it would be nice to have this option. Only one pool was open during our visit and it was very busy. No hot tubs open yet, nor was the fitness center which looks really nice. The Market and the Silverado Grill restaurant on the grounds were both very good. Overall, I would definitely go back for another PBI tennis weekend. The pros and the setting were fantastic!
The tennis camp run by Pros Katie, Quinn, Ben and John was outstanding. It was the first camp after COVID and they made sure we all felt comfortable and safe. We are return campers and highly recommend the camp for its variety, quality of instruction and play. The other campers were of similar skill levels 3.5-4.5 and were a joy to play and compete with because of the pros approach and guidance.
The tennis staff here were so wonderful! Quinn lead our private sessions while Katie and John helped the kids with their technique, we all learned a lot from these folks and we will continue to use our new skills outside of the resort. Thank you, great experience!
Tennis pro staff is amazing. They have three pros, each with different styles to suit any level of player. The energy on the courts is lively and fun, while being incredibly educational. My game has really improved from working with the PBI folks at Silverado.
we had a wonderful time in Nappa thanks to Katie Dellich and Quinn Saine. Their skills and knowledge were very helpful for our progress as tennis fans and Showed us a great time with their great personalities. Thank you so much!
Great time & fun Tennis. Katie, PBI instructor is amazing!
