Tucked into a quiet corner of the Club area of St. James’s Club & Villas is the Tennis Center, with four beautiful courts lighted for night play. Ask at the Front Desk for the availability of a tennis pros and equipment.
Off Court
St. James’s Club Resort & Villas is suitable for couples, families, and groups looking to spend quality time together in a relaxed Caribbean environment. The resort features landscaped grounds leading to two white-sand beaches, Mamora Bay Beach and Cocoa Beach.
Located in Antigua, the resort offers a casual and comfortable atmosphere. Guests can either relax or engage in various outdoor activities such as tennis, water sports, and deep-sea fishing. The resort has five restaurants offering a range of dining options from casual to more formal settings. Evening entertainment includes cocktails, live music, and performances.
Accommodations
All accommodations provide a sense of privacy and oneness with nature, whether you opt for a villa in “The Village” area, which tumbles down a gently sloping hillside towards the beach, or a room in “The Club,” near the resort’s restaurants and activities. Accommodations choices include spacious villas, suites, and hotel-style rooms with stunning water views or serene garden settings.
This is primarily a vacation resort, but is well-equipped with 6 courts: 4 hard surface and 2 synthetic grass. There is a very competent pro on site, a former national player. Clinics are offered sporadically, the pro is more geared towards private and semi-private lessons. There is a very high percentage of guests from Great Britain, many of whom play tennis, and are very friendly and approachable. Other than leaving a note on the counter in the tennis shop(?), that is the extent of the game matching. With 6 courts for only 200 (+/-) rooms, at least there are almost always courts available. As a resort, the St. James is idyllic. It is small, so everything is close: the beach, the courts, the pools and the beaches. Many rooms are walk-out to the beach, yet still only 100 feet from the courts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the St. James, and would definitely return.
