From a tennis player's perspective, however, what makes the Royal Lahaina so appealing is the Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch, a short stroll from the lobby.
It's a handsome complex, with a dedicated stadium court and 10 others, grouped around a pro shop that, like the hotel's cottages, takes its architectural cues from the plantation era. The Royal Lahaina Resort Tennis Ranch closed briefly at the end of 2023 and has now reopened under the management of USTA Hawaii Pacific.

Set on 25 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this polished resort is 1.1 miles from Kaanapali Golf Course Tournament North and 3.4 miles from Kapalua Airport.
There are 3 swimming pools, 2 hot tubs, and tennis courts. Dining options include a restaurant serving traditional Hawaiian cuisine, a beach bar, and an ice cream parlor. There's also a nightly oceanfront luau (surcharge).
Accommodations
Airy rooms feature high-thread-count sheets and private lanais, plus flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, free Wi-Fi, and minifridges. The 1- and 2-bedroom suites add separate living areas. Cottages with full kitchens are also available.

What really stood out was Nate—he’s fantastic. Super knowledgeable, approachable, and clearly cares about making sure everyone has a great experience. Whether you’re there to seriously train or just enjoy some time on the court, he strikes the perfect balance.
Definitely a place I’d come back to and would recommend to anyone looking for a high-quality tennis experience in Maui.

I have lived on Maui for 10 years and am passionate about tennis. I compete in many leagues, and I play 3 days a week socially. In the competitive side I get to play on all courts across the island, as well as Oahu. Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch is by far the best venue in all categories. I love that they set up great matches for me- I never have to make a phone call. The employees and instructors are the friendliest, the courts are in great condition, and the surroundings are beautiful. We are so lucky to have this facility on the West side.
