A Resort Built Around Racquet Sports

Nestled along Florida’s Atlantic coastline, Hammock Beach Golf Resort & Spa offers a tennis experience that goes far beyond standard resort play. Its award-winning Racquet Center serves as a hub for players of all abilities, supported by professional instruction, well-maintained courts, and a full calendar of engaging programming.

Off the court, guests enjoy upscale accommodations, diverse dining options, spa services, and championship golf—creating a balanced getaway where tennis is central, not secondary. Whether visiting for a weekend event or an extended stay, players quickly sense that the sport is a core part of the resort’s identity.

Low Lights, High Energy: XGLOsive Tennis

Hammock Beach brought creativity and excitement to the courts this Halloween with XGLOsive Tennis, a black-light event that transformed nighttime tennis into a glowing celebration. Neon colors, high-energy music, and costumed players created a vibrant atmosphere where every rally lit up under the lights.

Designed for all levels, the event emphasized fun and connection as much as play. The night wrapped up with an exciting one-point tournament, followed by food and drinks that kept the social energy going. XGLOsive Tennis highlighted the resort’s ability to reimagine tennis in ways that are inclusive, memorable, and unmistakably fun.

A Look Back at a High-Performance Weekend: Tennis Lab and Pickleball Performance Lab

In November, Hammock Beach shifted into high-performance mode with two back-to-back development events designed to elevate players’ games.

The Tennis Lab delivered an immersive training environment focused on technical precision, strategy, and movement. Participants trained alongside an elite group of touring professionals, gaining insights that led to real “a-ha” moments on court. High-intensity drills and personalized feedback culminated in a mixed doubles exhibition featuring the pros, bringing world-class play directly to the participants.

The Tennis Lab was led by an exceptional lineup of pros. Mikael Pernfors, a two-time NCAA singles champion, former World No. 10, and French Open finalist, brought his extensive experience and competitive fire to the sessions, drawing from a career that includes three ATP singles titles. Brenda Schultz-McCarthy, a former World No. 9, energized the courts with her trademark power; her seven WTA singles titles, nine doubles titles, and 130 mph serve—one of the fastest in WTA history—made her a standout presence. Ann Grossman-Wunderlich shared her strategic depth as a former French Open and US Open quarterfinalist, supported by career-high rankings of No. 29 in singles and No. 31 in doubles, along with victories over top players of her era. Rounding out the pro team was Tobias Svantesson, a former ATP professional from Sweden whose Grand Slam experience, two ATP doubles titles, and peak rankings of No. 65 in doubles and No. 89 in singles offered players invaluable guidance.

The momentum continued the following morning with the Pickleball Performance Lab, a dynamic and fast-paced and instructional experience led by accomplished professionals with extensive competitive backgrounds. Players sharpened skills, explored winning strategies, and gained valuable perspective on the fastest-growing sport in racquet athletics. Together, the two events created a weekend defined by progress, inspiration, and serious court time.

The event featured Jake Bower, an APP Collegiate National Champion from the University of Florida who competes regularly in both PPA and APP professional events and earned a major career milestone in 2025—winning gold for Team USA at the Pickleball World Cup. Adam Kework, Head Professional at Toon Town Pickleball in Jacksonville, contributed his extensive tournament experience in men’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, along with his Golden Ticket qualification and active Senior Pro presence. Returning from the Tennis Lab lineup, Tobias Svantesson brought his rapidly rising pickleball résumé, including a sixth-place finish in his first Senior Pro event, a fifth-place finish at Nationals in mixed doubles, four 5.0-level titles, and RSPA professional certification. Mikael Pernfors rounded out the coaching team with an impressive list of recent results, including gold medals at the Pocahontas Invitational, the Florida/Georgia Pickleball Classic, the Subaru Challenge, and the Pictona Challenge with Ivan Lendl, along with a silver medal at the Sun Valley Pro Invitational.

Tennis Lab and Pickleball Performance Lab created an unforgettable two-day, back-to-back experience filled with professional-level coaching, high-energy training, and meaningful progress.

Tennis With a Purpose: The One Love Tennis Tournament Returns

Looking ahead, Hammock Beach is preparing for the next One Love Tennis Tournament, tentatively scheduled for late May 2026. Held every other year, this women’s doubles charity event has become a meaningful tradition within the Florida tennis community.

Hosted at the resort’s award-winning Racquet Center, the tournament welcomes players across a wide range of levels while maintaining a competitive yet welcoming atmosphere. On-court hospitality, community involvement, and strong sponsor support elevate the experience well beyond a typical tournament weekend.

Proceeds benefit the Family Life Center of Flagler County, supporting survivors of domestic violence through shelter, advocacy, counseling, and essential services for individuals and families. Since its inception, One Love has raised tens of thousands of dollars—demonstrating the power of tennis as a platform for awareness, unity, and lasting local impact.

Why Hammock Beach Belongs on Every Tennis Traveler’s List

What sets Hammock Beach Golf Resort & Spa apart is its ability to deliver tennis experiences that are diverse, intentional, and expertly executed. Few resorts offer glow-in-the-dark social play, elite training labs, and impactful charity tournaments—all within the same calendar year.

Couple that with exceptional facilities, world-class coaching talent, and a stunning coastal setting, and Hammock Beach becomes far more than a place to play—it becomes a place to connect, improve, and be inspired. For tennis enthusiasts seeking a resort that truly understands the sport and its community, Hammock Beach is a destination worth booking again and again.
